Headlight film

My headlights have a film (with a slight blue tint) that is beginning to peel around the edges of the plastic lens. I am trying to establish whether this film is original Maserati item or something that a previous owner has applied.

If Maserati item, has anyone experienced the same problem and are there any remedial routes to remove the remaining film? I am nervous using any acetone on plastic lens and if I do remove remaining film has anyone got any suggestions for applying new film (or should I just leave clear?)

On a sensible note,
I haven't noticed any film on my 4200 lights or did i on my 3200.
It must be some after market stuff.

Rex, mine don't seem to have any film on either. If there is, it certainly isn't lifting.
