Head unit options

Hi all,

I'm thinking of options to upgrade my 2013 Granturismo headunit. I'm looking to support my phone (android auto) so I can play music and podcasts whilst controlling everything through the steering wheel or head unit (my current Y cable and Bluetooth receiver means whilst the sound comes out I have to use the phone to change tracks etc).
Up to date mapping would also be a boon.

I've seen so far 3 options.

Canavie
AuCar
Naviplus

Does anyone know the relative benefits/downsides of each of these options?

I think Naviplus (being a touch screen that sits on top of the original) is the cheapest as the other two option replace the entire unit but give a bigger screen.

I don't want to lose any existing functionality.

Thoughts?

Hello Michael, I just installed and documented the entire install and demo of the AuCar 9" Android head unit. I have a group buy started on this head unit if you would be interested. You can watch my videos on my youtube channel. There are Right hand drive and Left hand drive models. The 1st video unboxing and the last video is the domonstration.

Could someone suggest a place in/near London/Surrey that could install Loundlink in my QPV ?
It's plug and play, honestly. Remove CD changer, plug Loudlink in, use some velcro to secure it. It's harder to fathom out how to work it than it is to install it.

Does this work in a QP5? And can it pair with iPhone?

Hi Motorsport3
First of all it's plug and play only have a CD changer in the space under the steering wheel. Assuming you have, then you're going to to have to extract the cd changer from it's housing. Easiest if you purchase the right removal tools to poke into the holes on either side which will allow you to then extract the unit. People have managed with refashioned wire coat hangers though!
After that just replace the cd changer with the loudlink. Works a treat.

So, ordered and fitted the loudlink yesterday. It was indeed straight forward.
I synced it with my android phone and tested music from my phone library which worked fine.
I then gave a call to my wife and worked Ok ish. She said she could hear me alright but the quality of the sound I was receiving from speakers was not great, particularly if I compare it with my Mercedes' Bluetooth.

May I check what do you choose when you source from the phone. I chose CD-C menu and there I think I saw two options and chose one of the two. Sounds about right?

Also where do you put your microphone?

Theres a bit of trim running up the A pillar which you can run the micophone wire under and then just poke the microphone into it at a suitable level. Seems to work. I rarely (if ever) use the phone so not an expert on quality I'm afraid.

You need to be on CDC for the loudlink/phone to come through the speakers. Not sur what you are referring to with the menu options for CDC?

Loudlink Instructions are succinct but I found you have to read them carefully!
