Hard starts (no starts) after alternator replacement

The light in the battery gauge came on, battery tested good. Moving on to the alternator, I removed the fuel rails, disconnected the hoses and took out the air intake manifold. Alternator tested bad, so was replaced. Everything was put back together per original configuration. Now when I go to start the car, it will crank but not fire. When it cranks, it only does so for less than a second, then shuts off even if I keep the "START" button pressed, I'll get bursts on the starter but no continuous cranking. When it does fire, sometimes its after 4 tries, sometimes its after 12+. Once running, it runs great. No CEL or other lights. Feels like its starts easier when cold, that is the starter will crank long enough for it to fire. Then, even when ran for under a minute, following attempts will result in the pulsing of the starter motor, even if "START" button is continuously held down.
Please see link below for a video description. Any ideas? Thanks guys. The car did not have this issue, even with the dying alternator, two weeks ago and prior, would always crank long enough to fire the engine.
I realize that the alternator is a secondary issue, I mentioned it to give an idea of what was disconnected and unplugged in the process.

Sounds to me like you have air in the fuel line or getting into the fuel line which its trying to purge before it will start.

Perhaps, but none of the fuel lines were disconnected. The fuel injectors stayed on the fuel rail, and when the car does fire up, there's no signs of fuel starvation, it will sit at 4-5K rpm just fine, and no "CEL" or any other lights indicating an incorrect mixture or fuel smell in the engine or under the car.

You took the fuel rails off though. From your video it sounds like it tries to start for the same amount of time before the ECU cuts in to stop the starter motor.

I think its the 3rd time it almost catches as though the fuel air mixture has got to the right mix but the ECU cuts in and stops the starter again.

The next attempt it fires up. You may have to plug it into a launch or similar so you can see whats happening with the fuel banks and mixture level.

You won’t get a CEL for emissions until it’s run for a while. The lambda sensors don’t work until they’re hot. I don’t think it’s air in the fuel line.

My initial guess based on what you’ve done is that you’ve forgotten to plug something in eg vac hose or muddled two connectors up.

What did you find the problem to be? My 05 GranSport is doing the exact same thing. I did not remove the injectors, and just removed the fuel lines, from the fuel rails, when I replaced my alternator. My car started up right away, but once it is warmed up, I have the exact same issue that you had. Thank you in advance...Mike
