It is appalling, it came as a shock to me when I started looking at Granturismo's.
I have a habit of wanting the underside of a car to be as good as the body though. My Porsche's and Aston were like new underneath (especially the Aston), although I did protect my GT3 due to lack of any protection.
I generally sell cars before the benefit is realised, but it's probably saved the cars years down the line.

Ps. Had a brilliant drive on the way home from work today really epic. The Joy's of living in the country...

Just make sure all GT owners get the underside protected, it’s bad, believe me!
Didn't know that this is an issue with these cars - what would you recommend doing and do you have any particular places to recommend for the work? Much appreciated..

Read through the posts on here as there are some recommended companies and products in the comments.

Agreed, pay close attention to this. Mine (2013) changed markedly in just one year and once it takes hold, it can deteriorate very quickly. Luckily, mine was caught in time and the guys at AV Engineering did a great job at the end of last year but if you don't treat it as soon as it is spotted, it could be almost uneconomic to rectify.

I had my FF cleaned and properly sealed when I got it, cost was £800 from Stewart Roden near Edinburgh. No F car is under sealed at the factory which is pathetic but if you want to use it, needs to be protected!

Are there areas where the protection should be injected into the subframe?

(Noting comments about rusting from inside out).
