GTS still in production till Autumn

Was at the factory recently and they said GT was to be in production until Autumn - Only doing customer ordered cars. I saw cars still rolling down the line, 13 cars a day on one shift only, so not just words. Went through the engine room and would say anything about stopping buying Ferrari engines. They had a quite few Levante Trofeos ‘laying’ around.

There may be a deal to be had at the end. New MC for £70k?

It’s a sad day when the cease, it’s a brilliant car and possible the likes not to be seen again from Maserati. Feel a little emotional.

On the plus side, 12 years out of a model run is testament to the old girl.

Now come on Maserati, give us a true replacement not some half baked Chrysler.

Having just had mine on the road for 9 days and only driven it on of those 4 days, the GT is light years from the Coupe/GS, I can see why it has lasted but really Maserati should have replaced it with something different by now.

How many cars will really suffer from underbody (subframe) corrosion in the years to come?

I can see it reducing the number of cars on the road, not that there are a lot out there now.

I should qualify the Lavante Trofeo’s laying around comment, wasn’t supposed to suggest not wanted they just there for all the press to keep reporting on.

Just make sure all GT owners get the underside protected, it’s bad, believe me!
this will be the death of these cars, on a rolling basis, as the years tick on. QPs and GTs alike.

I'm keeping a close eye on mine ... and over the coming months find a place to get the underside sealed properly. Mine lives outside so I'm spared the worst, as per AV Engineering it's looking good but not worth the risk.

Like the CarPlay upgrade we should find a (few?) places that can start doing this for everyone

I think it was from the inside out.
Due to the way they are made the weather gets into them easily.
This was the subframe I renewed a few months ago in Yorkshire it was totally scrap.

Funny you should say that. Tomorrow mine goes to "Rustbusters" in Spalding for the full 2- day treatment. I had it done on an Alfa Spider last year and it is superb. They photograph the whole process and put it on a stick for you for £5 extra. Total cost for the GC is c £600, but will be the best investment in preserving this car I ever make.

I've attached their website below, and there is about a 2-3 month waiting list. If you book, tell em Frank with the GC told you about them please, as I may have other cars I want to do and would like to try to get a discount next time!

may I ask if you went with the "Hot Fog" process or the Dinitrol process? It seems both are similarly priced with the Dinitrol a bit more

Went Dinitrol black wax for the Alfa and same for the GC booked this week, but you can have clear wax if you prefer.

Went on the Ferrari Factory tour (amazing and I’ve been to Lotus, Maser, Lambo and Tesla by comparison) and our GT’s are more rare as Ferrari build 25 V8 Ferrari’s per day and 20 V12’s per day. Mind you Lambo only build 4-5 Aventadors per day.

Was great to see our V8 Maser GTS engines still rolling down the same Ferrari V8 lines.

Also saw the new F8 on the line and the Monza. The F1 building was good but more impressed with the F1 Clienti (upto €4.5m for 4 years rental of an ex-Schmacher’s F1 car) and FX Clienti sheds. Entry to FX ownership requires you to own 5 Ferrari’s one of which must be a La Ferrari and even then you go on a 8 year waiting list to pay min €1.5-3.0m for a car!

Friends have used these guys too:

Driving in the winter months is a killer, especially as the amount of rust proofing is so limited with our cars.

It really is quite shocking how bad modern cars rust underneath, in the 70s a 5 year old Cortina would have scabs all over it , something you don't see on modern cars because all the panels are electrostatic painted before being primed and top coated, this could've easily been done to the subframes for a few pounds each
