GTS - Park Off warning (even when driving) / battery voltage drop

Mine did this today, new battery time I guess....what are my options?

It looks like the original battery so she's done well.

NOT going to be putting original in, so sensible suggestions if you would.

I have been struggling with what I have been told is contaminated actuator pots which Zep will testify too and issues with the handbrake release. I am now thinking rather than drop the gearbox, a new battery might be the actually root of all issues (and a crappy EPB which is on the list to look at)

You never know, I might get lucky :)

Mine did this shortly after I got it. I put in an OEM battery supplied by Graypaul and all has been well ever since. Didn't bother to seek alternatives but i'm sure there are some. It's pretty big! I'd always be looking at what Bosch offer as I reckon they make the best quality. Once you find the right one, try Ebay click and collect with Eurocarparts which is cheaper than walking in the door.

Do the GT cars have the same battery space as the QP Vs?

If so I've been very happy with the Bosch S5 AGM ... there's an S6 but I couldn't find it at a reasonable price. Model that fits my 2011 QP is the 019 Bosch AGM Stop Start Car Battery (S5A13); it was £200 delivered next day from Alpha Batteries.

This isn't always a battery issue as I found it. I got Park off warnings and then the EPB decided to stick on and then disintegrate resulting in new discs and a new EPB ECU.

Why would you fit a stop / start battery to a non stop / start car?

C
Hi Catman, I fitted the stop/start battery (with Voicey's approval!) due to my driving style - living in London, short trips, frequently a week or two without using the car. My understanding is that the AGM batteries (which I guess are mainly used for stop/start?) are better at taking the abuse. My car also lives on the street so it can only see the CTEK if the gods allow me to park outside my house

Sounds reasonable. Especially if Aldous says it's a good idea :)

haha yes - and I hope I haven't mischaracterised what he was saying re AGMs :) In any case my car Jan 2011 was on it's original FIAMM battery so that the fact it lasted until Christmas 2017 I was quite happy with. Even though the CTEK said the FIAMM was fine (after my car died parked up in Winchester over Christmas, I had to physically remove it) it was thoroughly goosed <erratic central locking, all the crazy messages etc.> and the new Bosch fixed everything

Modern cars and aging batteries. It's not an Italian thing. I had an intermittent ABS light on my M5 for a year and a half. Car otherwise perfect, no other battery symptoms. A new battery fixed it anyway!

Bosch S5 purchased and going in tomorrow. My car only has issues on restart after being stood for a short period or after being not used for weeks so hopeful the battery will be the route of all evil.

Been sticking it on the CTEK recently and it’s not done it.

Seems to only do it after lots of start, move, stop when the battery is having to work it’s hardest.

I just swopped my battery at Halfords as it kept losing charge overnight, but also getting xmas lights of ABs/MSP/Suspensions/Park off lights coming on. Battery changed to brand new one and now its worse, assume its a sensor rather than voltage drop. Stupid things lol.

A fresh battery solved this frustrating issue for me.

Someone on here mentioned getting a stop/start battery because they're a bit more grunty and better suited to the demands of a big Italian V8. Makes sense.

Well, we will know by the weekend at Brookies I suppose.

Stewart, what battery did you put in (brand)?

It may also be a bad earth, I have a spare earth cable so I may as well bung on another one.

Did you change your Navtrak Stuart or get it removed. They can cause Battery Drain!!!

I had the Yuama black diamond in from Halfords

http://www.halfords.com/motoring/bu...-lifetime-guarantee-096-black-12v-car-battery

Lifetime guarantee, checked the voltage and was losing slightly so they changed it no quibble.

Need location of the navtrack as well, need to get that stupid thing removed.

Found out xmas lights and it not being happy is the speed sensor, Bowkers put on the machine this morning Im checking parts so I can get it done locally (1200 from bowkers)

https://www.eurospares.co.uk/parts/maserati/qtp-2006-4-2/all/braking-control-systems-36204/197118

Looks like the speed sensor/hub is part 6 and they have second hand in stock or new from order, assume second hand is reconditioned which wondering how long that will last ? Is this the correct part number ?

Odd always NS but amount of potholes on my lane means it gets some abuse to get the car to the road.

It'll just be second hand, I reckon. Like the 4200 it's all part of the hub as far as I know, so it can't be repaired or reconditioned.

There was a thread about it earlier (specifically for the GS) I recall it's quite an easy swap but....

FWIW I'd only fit a new one.

Im just waiting for Eurospares to get back to me. Its not a happy bunny driving, ABS kicking in randomly trying to see if can disconnect the sensor so that its not in the loop to at least be able to drive to the garage once I get the part.
