GTS engine catastrophe

While £7k was what you regards as expensive for a replacement engine, we have seen many QP's and GT's come in and have a similar sized bill for ignored and poor maintenance.

Usual ones are:
Leaking cam cover gaskets
Failed springs
Failed AC pump
Failed front bushes
Major service
Failed hub ABS bearing sensors
Brakes
Underseal
Plus a few other bits and your are up to that amount.

Worth considering not buying one blind and the worth of getting an inspection done.

That sounds like mine, Matt! …lesson learnt (again!).

However, I now have a near perfect 4200 and it’s worth the smiles when it comes out of the garage.

Matt, I don't see how anyone could regard £7k (fitted) as expensive when a new factory replacement engine would be well north of three times that amount!

Relatively cheap, but still a decent chunk of change you don't really expect to spend. I wouldn't classify engine failure quite the same as the more consumable engine/suspension/gearbox components. You would hope it all averages out though...
