I don’t doubt it will be ok at 5 metres. It can get quite tight!

how much space do you have from the wall to a closed garage door mate?

The garage length from the back wall to a closed garage door is 4990mm Lol so 5.7mm to work with?
Width should be fine at 2350mm

Mine is exactly the same, and my car is a tiny bit longer than a std car so you will be fine :)

Mine is like this, I had to go measure it as the E63 M6 is 4871mm in length but narrower in width at 1855mm with the door mirrors closed...

Is your garage door up and over type? I think parking reverse in is the only option without catch the bootlid when opening/closing the garage door

Mine is double width, so I can’t comment on the width. Length from the post at the back to the inside of the door is 4965. I have a bit of foam rubber on the post to protect the car, so 4990 will be fine.

I could put the car one side of the post, but some idiot put a ramp in the way...

Thanks. Zep thats great, guess you cant park going straight in?

I haven’t tried, the nose might be too long coming off the back of the ramp. My door is up and over but the pivot is quite high so it would probably clear the boot.

I think it will be fine, I just tried my Polo in the garage parked both ways at about 2cm from the garage door and it was fine. Closest point was nearly catching the rear wiper but it was missed by 3cms! lol

I had a double garage with two single garage doors, this was very tight getting the GT into the garage. I ended up replacing the doors with modern sectional doors which meant the original door frames were removed and the new doors gave me an extra 7 inches of width. Standard garage doors are way too narrow.

My first GTS I screwed a batten to the floor so could drive it in and roll up to it. With the Strad, I drive it in and push it the final foot.

Handbrake off, first gear engaged.

My lock up is pretty small, I have to fold the wing mirrors in to fit through the door. When its parked, there is probably half a foot either side of the car front to back. After a couple of close calls with the wall at the back I got some of these. They are pretty small but do the job well and are cheap.

How do you push with 1st gear engaged?

Edit - you must mean you push it in neutral and then engage first gear. I struggle with this in the GS as I have to start the car to put it in first and then the car always rolls a couple of inches the wrong way!

I have a piece of string with a washer on the end hanging from the rafters. When the string moves then I'm far enough in! The washer is positioned in such a way that it hangs in front of the grille so no issues with it touching the paintwork. Sorted.

I have a similar issue in my garage, but just use a couple of house bricks to reverse slowly up to. They do the same job as the plastic wedges, but are less poncy.

Ha! Charming! There are some rugged old house bricks behind the chocks and an old 4x4 tyre on the back wall, if that makes it any less poncy. The floor is painted, so the bricks kept moving when it was just them.

Of course! It did make me laugh, they are a bit poncy I can’t lie.
Still going strong and doing me proud, just looking forward to the better weather to use it more!
