GT S to MC Stradale ownership

I read of a Stradale that has been on a rolling road and the output was 476bhp, from memory. That stands to reason as a blueprinted engine with a few software tweaks should have been capable of more than the 450bhp originally claimed. Also, the original Ferrari California was rated at 483bhp and we all know that brand positioning is very important and they wouldn't want them too close. My silver GS was running full Larinis, including cats and so should have been running more than the 395bhp claimed by the factory. There's no doubt that my Stradale was considerably faster, particularly in the mid-range and it felt more than a just a few horsepowers or torques, as Clarkson would say. Utterly unscientific, just what my experience of them is!

476bhp at the wheels v claimed (claimed would be at the crank) so stands to reason its a lot more (500+ to achieve 476at the wheels) mind you it depends where it’s dynoed and under what circumstances.
Can you remap my car for more BHP ... yes.... here you go here’s the new figures lol.
A dyno reading is variable to the dyno, day, correction factors used by the team.
Either way if it feels fast and a joy to drive then win win

It does appear Wiki are quoting dry weight for the Strad yes, so you were right...sit on the top step.

I'm sure someone will be along soon enough to kick me off it!

Mind I find it strange that the mid engined supercar makers all quote dry weights whereas others tend to quote wet....very confusing and on light cars like a McLaren it can be a big percentage difference.

I’ve got the 4200 and GranTurismo brochures. We need the GS and Stradale brochures to put a databank together.

Here are a few figures from some of my Maserati brochures (and these are all "dry" weights):

Ghibli GT - 1365kg
4200 Spyder - 1630kg
QPV - 1880kg
GranTurismo - 1780kg
GranCabrio-MC - 1880kg
GranTurismo Trofeo (to GT4 class spec) - approx. 1350kg.

In my office I could only find spec/price list info for the GS and the Strad, not the full brochures. Someone else will have to add these to the list. Then maybe save the full list as a sticky.

Having looked through more official Maserati brochures, here are some dry weights:

Ghibli GT - 1365kg
3200 GT - 1500kg
4200 Coupe GT - 1570kg
4200 Spyder GT - 1620kg
GranSport - 1580kg
QPV DS - 1860kg
QPV (facelift, auto) - 1880kg
GranTurismo auto - 1780kg
GranCabrio-MC - 1880kg
MC Stradale 2 seat - 1670kg
GranTurismo Trofeo (to GT4 class spec) - approx. 1350kg
MC12 - 1335kg

As a guide, an auto or CC version is 10kg more than its manual counterpart.
For the kerb weight, add a further 80-90kg.

So, as suspected, the GS is actually about 90kg lighter than the lightest MC Strad. Which makes sense given its much smaller size, smaller engine, etc.
As for BHP per tonne, there's not all that much in it between the 3200, 4200, GranSport and Strad. Though the Strad does win that one (if we ignore the Trofeo and the MC12).

Can't believe that the Gransport is heavier than the Coupe

Kind of reminds me of a story I heard when I was younger when 2 friends with 2 similar cars had a race, one of them had the "sports package" which had all the add on's like the spoiler, side skirts, bigger wheels etc., the other had the normal version - guess who won the race? :p

Good stuff. Then you have to add the driver. With it being a light car my Lotus 340R was really fast and had a very impressive power to weight ratio whilst empty. That all changed when I got in it!
