GT prices finally softening.....

Even though I am getting a new one, I am quite relaxed about the lower prices which higher mileage 4.2 GTs are settling in at.

There does seem to be a two tier pricing system in place, mind. Despite our wishes, Maserati dealers are shifting three year old 4.2s at £55k retail as long as they are sub 20k miles. Once cars are over 30k they are falling out of the dealer network and the independents are giving them a go. I've said it before mind, if a leggy car is soon needing a service, brakes and tyres then it needs to be a shed load cheaper than a Maserati dealer car which has just been serviced has 20k+ left on its brakes, comes with a 12M proper warranty, 4mm+ tyres, stone chips resprayed etc etc.

I will be nice to see some with smaller dealers, still don't think we will be at £35 this year, maybe next?

Are dealers selling them though...Just don't seem to be shifting any of the ones in the classifieds.....Most have been for sale for an age...

.......they are slow to shift at the best of times......a huge number bought relative to the 4200/GS........and slow moving as 2ndhand.......so it seems

...not at all....big sales in 2007 into 08...bigger numbers to come through relative to 4200/GS...ebbed off quite a bit 09/10.........just part of that cycle now, out of warranty.....20k miles threshold......

Ok...we know some people what to sell quickly......does a car 5K less than a comaparable one, put pressure on other sellers to automatically reduce in negotiation, even of high end marques?

Sorry but I think the 4.2 prices are way over priced and feel that it's only the GS good strength that is holding them high.

The early 4.2's should be £39k but a decent GS being is still £30k so too close really, hence why they are higher.

Its that main dealer thing Frank....Porsche are exactly the same... An early 997 911 C2S can be had for 27/30k private.....32k indy....A Porsche main dealer will charge you 40k for the same car.

Agreed, it's all about the main dealers controlling the market.

There are masses of GT's stck piling, but the dealers are playing the long game and not flooding the market with stock, instead drip feeding the cars to extract as much profit as possible.
