GT Owner Again…

Well, it depends who you listen to really, on the forums it seems a fair few orders being cancelled, and that's understandable given the spiralling costs and potential recession, however speaking to the dealer and they seems to still be quoting very long lead times. A longer lead time suits me if I'm honest. I've specced up the GTS to stupid levels so the cost is a little eye watering, I could of course downgrade it if necessary, or simply cancel and continue to enjoy my new toy - there will of course be more GTS's on the market by then pushing the costs down. Anyway, it's 12-18 months away, so happy to kick that can down the road ;)
Remember to offer your Maser on here when the time comes. I had a base 992 on order for a year and a half before I gave up and binned it. Lovely cabin but the road noise and lack of, well, engine noise eventually got me to give up. That and the 'no interest' dealers.

The 992 is an interesting one. It's a bucket list thing. Dreamed of owning a 911 since a kid and always aspired to steaming into a dealership and ordering a brand new one. I've technically acheived the dream now so can cancel the order LOL. I absolutely love the 992, the GTS being the sweet-spot model, but it's a shed load of cash and I do wonder whether I might crumple when I get the call. I've specced it up to £145k, could probably trim this to £130k, but it's still outrageous really. It'll be a better car than the GT for sure but very few things can come close to that feel-good factor that the GT provides. The M4 is a better car but it's been bookended by GTs so that speaks volumes. Depends how you measure 'better' of course.

Quick question, how do you mute the Navigation voice, I could lower the volume but it still interupts what you're listening to - or does everyone just use CarPlay instead? About to order a wireless adapter for it.

I’d be tempted to change the GTS to a T, with a manual gearbox. In my experience, on UK roads, the higher up the 911 ladder you go, the worse the driving experience. Who needs a road going 911 that is lower and stiffer than the regular one? Indeed, a friend of mine sold his new GT3 after two months of ownership, simply because it was too harsh and uncomfortable on typical roads.
Of course, if taking it to a track is your thing, then fair enough. But as a daily, basic is best (and about £40k cheaper).
That said, the GTS is still a properly amazing vehicle, and I’m sure you’ll love it when it arrives. And I will be jealous!

I came from a 997 to the Maser for the bigger rear seats - it really doesn’t corner or steer like a 911 and you can feel the weight.

The sound makes every drive an event though.

I saw the car you bought advertised at ridiculous money to start with, then it dropped to a more sensible price.

Looks lovely but the red interior is maybe a bit much for me.

Congrats again.

I'd be interested to hear how it compares to the 992 after some ownership time.

Cars are getting almost too good that they're losing their charm.

Not sure it was outrageously expensive to start with (all the MC's are priced high regardless). My car was a little overpriced initially, but the specification made it stubbornly high I guess (the paint & caliper options totalled £11.5k alone!), I started negotiating in early December with a low ball offer, got it eventually for even less than my initial low ball offer LOL. The interior is black though, unless you're referring to the contrast red stitching, if so I think it really lifts the cabin and complements the exterior. Came from GrayPaul Birmingham and I must say they were excellent from start to finish.

It’s just made me want to go and drive in a tunnel now. Shame the nearest one is 20miles away
Is it, though...? Sounds like a perfectly reasonable thing to do. I intentionally drive in and through parking garages just to clear my head from time to time...
