Same on the Continental. And that has two. One 'house' battery and one 'starter' battery with a needlessly complex charge circuit and a pyrotechnic disconnect!

What Phil said. You could identify it quickly with a multimeter and just pulling a couple of fuses..... Or it could be hours and hours to trace.
However, as was said, it's very likely that it's just the battery that needs replacing after 4 years.

well the car comes with 6 months warranty and I’m going to try to get it in writing from the seller that any battery drainage diagnostic and repair work will be covered by them. If they agree to this, then I guess the car is a safe bet?

Also, attached is the main dealer inspection report from a couple of weeks ago. Is this not worth the paper it’s written on? or should I be able to take it at face value that the car is in good shape?

Hi Sam, no offence taken... I’m a complete novice when it comes to high end cars! (I’ve been driving a 320d for the last 10 years lol) But thank you for your feedback... I wasn’t even aware that you could get specialist independent inspections done, but that’s definitely the next step here... the car is based in Retford and I think Manchester is probably the closest location but it’s still approx 1 hour 40 mins away... Are you aware of any other indy’s that could complete the inspection that are closer to Retford? Or is @marios kriticos my best bet?
Shiltech is in Loughborough. My old car went there twice for variators and service. Jeff knows his stuff.

I would say, tell them to put a brand new battery on as tested or not, it shouldn't go flat in less than a week.

Then, if you get any trouble after that, it should be covered by your warranty anyway... Just make sure you read what is/isn't covered.

Given the likely purchase price, you should be able to get the dealer to throw in a battery as it is more than likely a tiny % of the margin and or sale price. If you think it’s a good car I wouldn’t let a new battery be a deciding factor (but suggest as others have that it definitely should be replaced by you or the seller). Just make sure the warranty would cover a drain issue should it turn out to be the problem later down the line (again as others have said).

My car sat for 3 weeks and started fine. So im not that pro trickle charge camp. No reason to be scared to park the car up without a trickle charger. There are way more expensive and complicated possible problems with a GT you could worry about.

I second that Jeff and team know their stuff.. Also worth trying Andy at Sheffield Super Car Centre who’s done some work on my cars too, he has worked on many super cars such as MC12, F40s etc.

Hi all! Apologies for the radio silence, it’s been a busy few weeks (Weddings, work etc etc.) but I’ve finally managed to get on the Maserati ownership ladder! It’s a GT sport in grigio alfieri with Matt black wheels and yellow callipers! (Which are way better than red ones btw ;) lol!) I’ve done about 500 miles in it so far and there’ve been zero faults and it’s driving like a dream!

Opinion poll - should I get the carbon aero package retrofitted? (I was thinking spoiler, door handles and wing mirror covers)
Or as it’s a grigio, would it look better to keep it stock and maybe get more carbon bits for the interior? (I currently have a carbon wheel, carbon dash and door card trims, but would love to add flappy paddles, the centre console and speedo to the collection!)

thanks!

Looks fine as it is to me, but if you want to add more weight that's up to you. Carbon handles.....meh!

I’ve never had spacers fitted to a car before, how easy are they to install and do they affect the handling in any way?
Can’t say that I’ve noticed any difference to the handling, I’ve had them on for 2 years. Just get decent ones from say H&R in Germany. Very easy to fit, no difference to changing a wheel.

And don't forget to buy the longer bolts if not in the kit..
