Same with the limited build old 3200's although nice ones are a lot rarer

A mate of mine has his lovely 3200GTA for sale on eBay, spent 24k on it, and still no punters!

Dave

If someone told me they’d spent 24k in maintenance and repairs on a 3200 I don’t think I’d want one either.

But must be one of the best with that kind of care.

£24k on maintenance on a 3200? Sounds like he either got lucky, or skimped. ;)

But slightly more seriously, that is “only” a smidge more than a grand a year over the 20 years of the cars life, which isn’t at all bad for such an awesome car.

The private sale on AT at £19k, with the cigarette burn to the techno cloth and previously repaired surfboard was £22k last August and the seller was adamant at the time he would not drop in price.

Do we know if the two ADG cars at £19.5k and £20k with recent clutches, both with techno cloth, are ADG's stock or SOR?

I think you see a market where people are trying to liquidate assets before we leave the EU. Same thing is happening with the 996 C4S bubble of the last 18-24 months, the 996 turbo did not rise as fast and prices have not eased as much.

Prices are softening generally because of external factors. The GS also has the current pressure of the Granturismo, especially MC Shift cars, but long term they are such different cars this will pass.

If you are cash rich, I am not, what a great time to be a buyer of some serious metal whatever the brand.

The real equation here in relation to TCO is whether keeping the GS in the tip top condition you mention will be less than the depreciation on the GT........
You must discount maintenance which is why i state up ftont not to see the GS as an investment. Its a given that these cars cost money to maintain. The analogy with Porsche is so many fall into the hands of owners who csn afford the purchase but struggle to pay the maintenanxe costs. So they skimp, they cut corners and the result is so many high mileage kbacketed dogs of Porsche Turbo cars. So although prices rise for a mezger-engined porsche it has to be offset by high maintenance costs for a £100k car.

You also have to bear in mind that most of the cars on sale are black or silver, mainly black. As I said somewhere else, more vibrant colours like red or blu med seem to be sold very, very quickly.

It’s similar to Aston Vantages. Back when they were everyday cars, subtle shades were preferred - which is why most are black, silver and dark blue. As these cars become modern classic weekend toys, people are wanting a more exotic colour palette. A yellow Vantage is a prized thing these days, apparently.
For example, the last blu med GS Coupe I saw was up for sale with the Chelsea Truck Co late last year and sold in a few weeks.

If you’ve got a black one I wouldn’t be selling right now as the market’s overflowing with them. A red or blue one, though...

True of most of this type of car. Can suddenly afford to buy their dream car. Cannot afford to run them and maintain them properly. Several years down the road you have a car no-one wants.

Yay for Med Blue.
My GS that I bought from Panicracing aka Paul is just north of 100k miles, however the impeccable history and the work Paul had had carried out by a specialist (ex Dick Lovett Swindon) in the last few years sort of allayed my fears of owning such a car.
I payed quite a bit less than £20k for her knowing that other than routine servicing all the expensive stuff has been done in the last 2-3000 miles,
clutch, all new suspension, all new brakes (inc calipers), new wheel bearings x4, new Michy sports all round etc etc.

Would I sell, which I am considering as I can't get comfortable because of my back issues.
However in a quandary with regard to price in the current market, maybe just wait until after Brexit and see what happens.

Can you not just get the seat modified to you? It is your car to do with as you please, Soprano Stu would have a donor seat to use.

Good idea Newton. It would be quick and easy to (temporarily) swap the GS front seats for a pair from a normal 4200.

I spent just over 20k over 10 years on my 3200 which is about average I think. Some years the cost was 7.5k but others were as low as £358. I budgeted 3k per year so always had the money when something expensive needed to be repaired. I don’t think many people expect or want to spend this amount on a car of this age, hence so many are in poor condition.

My lovely Blue GS that came from RG still keeps me smiling without any CELs :) So far in almost 18 months it’s cost just a little under £500 if you discount the Larinis!

Oh can I say Blue again :)

I'll potentially swap you a pair of GS seats for 4200 seats. Would prefer the GS seats in my 4200.
Err No!
Actually the guy who sorted out the paint work for me (following my F**k up with a pressure washer) recommended a seat back and lower cushion bolster but I've forgotten where he said he got it from, best I text him.

Ok I was only offering. I'll not bother next time. The seats aren't that important to me.

What is he selling it for?

He's just bought a FIA spec E type Jag to race, the jag engine rebuild and a few other bits and pieces will be around 18k so he says, hence the reluctant sale

And who said maser engine rebuilds were expensive!

Someone may have got themselves a bargain today. Sold within a day.

OK it may have issues or limited history but with low miles and sub £20k price has to be the keenest priced GS so far.

BTW he is also selling that £7.5k QP Andy posted this week, and is just a few miles from me.

Is that not the Cat D/C one?
