GS Front Seats in a 4200

I'm not too sure but you may have to remove the hard door bins as the seats intrude.
The side bins are a PITA, true. Too cramped to be accessed without the door open, and seat switch gear is a struggle whist driving too...GS door cards would be a great mod on a 4200 IMO!

Will keep you all posted on where this gets to. It may be that the cost ends up being prohibitive, of course!!

The side bins are a **** site more usable than the pathetic pockets on a GS!

Funny thing is they probably were an afterthought.

Let's put some sportier seats in the GS.....oh bugger the door doesn't close. Got any spare material knocking around? Sure, that will do.....perfect.

The rear portion of the door bins on the 4200 are totally inaccessible unless you have small hands

Do you also find that you can only put your seat belt on with the doors open??!
Sometimes...as it helps clear the seat back release which can snag...
I struggle to reach back there for it too..! Too old & fat to get in or out of the **** thing in truth..! :p

This whole seat replacement is looking like an expensive undertaking. All of the channels I've looked at would require purchase of a whole interior, much of which I can't use, even when the car it's coming from is being broken for parts.

Getting a sensible colour to match the interior bits I'm leaving in (like the dash) is also a challenge, as many of the GS interiors were two-tone.

Might just need to be patient and keep eyes peeled for that perfect set in the right colour!!

The bin is removable from the door card. Def do the speakers and running speaker wiring is impossible as the there is a sort of plug attached to the body of the car instead of just running the wires through the car body as standard on most cars. I used the existing wiring and soldered my speaker wires to them. Still sounds great afterwards! Remember to be careful with airbag connections behind the door card as I now have a airbag light which I can't fix. GGGRRRR

Running new speaker cabling is possible.
The plug you mention is from the Delphi Sicma 1.5 Series. Now Aptiv.

Part #s for reference: DTB5000FH and DTB5000MH.

It's a 50 pin connector with a number of "spare" positions available to:

1. Drill out a couple of adjoining positions - enabling a wide enough space to feed through new cables.
Down side is doing it properly and hoping you'll never need to remove the door.

2. Add new wiring to the connectors using the correct crimp terminals.
You'd need either Sicma-2 or Sicma-3 1.5mm male & female crimps.
Part #s 211CL2S2160 and 211CC2S2230

What brought me back to this thread in the first place is a Gransport CF steering wheel on Aus. Ebay.

Landed approx. £750 inclusive of duty & VAT. Seems to be good value.

The Gransport CF wheel is pretty different to the 4200 CF one. It will of course fit though regardless.

Very different. Not a fan of CF in either case tbh.
Iirc you picked up the 4200 version some time ago?
At least that suits the 4200 interior more than this GS one.
Each to their own and all that.

Agreed. I did pick up an OEM 4200 one a while back. It is nice and much better than the stock 4200 wheel that I never liked. The rim was too thin for me. The one I have is kind of half leather half CF and I'm really please with it. With the FD extended CF paddle shifters it was an importNt and worthwhile upgrade.

Just got to get my new valved Larini rear boxes installed at some point with a remote kit to boot
