Yes - it used to have a red trident and has been doing the rounds of dealers for a while now.

For anyone else thinking about this car, I would try and go in with your eyes wide open with this. It is not perfect by any means.

I went to view this car (twice as the first time I ran out of time due to traffic getting to the showroom). I am sure someone could fix it up, who has deeper pockets than myself. It has been loved at some point in its life but not recently in my opinion. I have tried to list some of the negatives that I found with the car, but I am incredibly picky with cars, so some may find more/less than I found.

6 Owners
Clutch not changed since 2007 (In desperate need of it being changed)
Not serviced since 2016
Every wheel needs a serious refurb due to curbing and serious damage. (Didn't look like the pictures advertised).
Brake calipers need a respray.
What sounded like a ticking or squeaking when the car was cold (stopped when it had warmed up- possibly a belt needing to be changed?)
Knocking from what I think was the front left suspension (hard to tell on the limited test route)
Oil pressure was on max for one of my short drives (ok the second time around)
Airbag light on
Lots of fails on the MOT history
Bugs and insects in the lights.
Only 1 working remote (the other one worked as a physical key but the buttons were worn beyond repair). Both didn't work for the remote boot release.
Cigarette burns on most of the interior and worn leather in places.
Aftermarket parking sensor wires were hanging out the back of the car.
Paint chipped between wing and front bumper (crash damage?).
Offside rear tyre needs replacing as that was on the limit.
Bonnet deadening had a few holes in it.
Drivers door panel moved heavily with electric window moving up/down.
Drivers side mirror folding in was a little slower than the passenger (still worked though, just being super picky)
Passenger wing mirror base is heavily chipped and oxidised.
Passenger side skirt is cracked and scuffed)

It wasn't all bad though. 2 new-ish looking tyres on the front and decent tread on the passenger rear.
The engine seemed good (first time driving a gransport so couldn't comment too much on that. It started hot and cold without any hesitation and sounded great!)
Majority of the paintwork was in a decent enough condition (could do with a full detail though)
Air con was working well and Ice cold.
Electric seats worked well.
Aftermarket radio sounded good and worked well on all speakers.

It would need some serious love and attention, but I am sure someone could treat this like a project and get it to a decent standard. Unfortunately, not the right car for me.

You're being polite.

I'll bring our fellow forum readers and contributors up to date.

Run away from this one, don't walk. Unless you can get it for 10k, in which case get ready to spend 5-7k putting it right. And then what are you left with? A nice car with a ropey history that was always the "one with the red trident".

As I said, be sure to run, not walk.

Agreed but I think £5-7k is also being far too polite as putting my car right cost a little more and it had no where near this level of neglect.

Recent MOT suggests the suspension also needs attention

But aside from that .... !

If ever was there was a case in point of there being no such thing as a bargain Maserati, this is it

Ha I think you might be right. Hopefully that ability will come in handy with future ownership. "It doesn't matter that I had to sell all my possessions, at least the car has a working heater matrix now!"

My God the MOT history is one of nightmares.

Bedford is a small detour on the way home though I may go see it for some info building, as I have yet to see a 4200 in person yet.

Now in the 14's .Can't you just buy this GS and drive it until serious mechanical problems happen. This does not need to be fixed into a perfect example, but rather one to just drive roughly.

We've seen this tic tac many times before and it never works. Always drops back down again and with the Internet and back history it is easy to find out the start, middle and end of any cars story. Might fool the uneducated or lazy but not our eagle eyes

Hi Jallan I bought the GS you refer to. It does need some work but it’s still a lovely sounding car. Main issue is the clutch which will need a change. Do you have any inspirational ideas about how to change the clutch without costing an arm and a leg?

Get it to Sports Italia (Matt the forum owners place).
