Granturismo year 4 service

Hi all,
I have a 2019 Granturismo MC, and whilst getting the parking sensor sorted, I enquired about the year 4 service due in September.
I nearly had a heart attack when he mentioned the price would be £4,300!

This is Maranello service in Thorpe.

He mentioned the Lambda sensors are changed at this service but the cost is really high. I was budgeting for around £2k

Would it make a difference calling HR Owen? I used to use those guys when I had my Levante.

Any advice appreciated.

The car is on a PCP deal through Maserati so I assume the service has to be a main dealer?

I think the consensus is change the lambdas when they start throwing errors. That may not go well with an MD. I'd definitely look into using an indy. I can't see how it can be enforced to use MD on a PCP, but could well be wrong.

I’d have thought they could insist the service schedule is followed even if they can’t enforce where it gets done, but I’d be surprised given pcp is calculated on the cars final value, if a main dealer service isn’t compulsory.

For that money you could drive down to SportsItalia, have a service, a great 2 week holiday in a 5 star hotel.

£1395 plus vat for the major (no lambdas) booking about 4 weeks. Get down and get a free holiday with the money you save.
Thank you for that. I’ll double check by calling Maserati Finance to see if a MD service is compulsory or optional.

Yeah, that's just silly. My local MD used to not change the lambas (because why the h3ll would you unless they're throwing errors), and then got pulled up by Maserati for not milking the cash potential.

I'd be surprised if they are able to insist on a MD service, there is a thing called Block Exemption which stopped this a while back. You would likely have to ensure that scheduled maintenance is performed per the specificied service breakdown, but not that an MD performs that work. This wouldn't help with the lambda requirement (or carbon cannister if that's also in the schedule) but you would likely be able to take it too SportsItalia and save some cash. Now, if you were planning to keep the car after the finance runs out, it may be worthwhile to get the MD stamp given the age of car, but that's a whole different consideration.

What a difference compared to main dealers and I bet the service you give will be much more thorough.
Judging by the tutting and harrupmhing, a certain person was making, when looking at a QP with Full Main Dealer Servicing, I'd say far better at SI. Their eyes are OPEN for a start.

Been quoted £3800 all in for the same service at Tower Garage in Egham FWIW @Hasan (2019 GT). You don’t have to use the MD as mentioned above but you do have to do the lamdas to comply with the service schedule. That’s still £1500 more than using SI which will do a better job, but I got a near 4 year warranty thrown in when I bought the car 2 years ago so I feel stuck with the MD for this service to keep the warranty situation simple. After that it will be SI all the way.

Thank you, that’s very interesting that you’ve been quoted £500 less than me for the same service at the same dealership.
I’ll call HR Owen on Tuesday to compare prices.

I used Maranello when I first bought my car, I very quickly realised there were much better options and switched to SportsItalia, who are light years ahead of Maranello in every respect, Quality, Price, Realism, all attributes that Maranello seem to lack.

They'll honour it, Gaz, just do a ****** job and leave a bag of prawns in the airbox for you.
Funny story. Mate did some security work on a guys house and he was very rude and obnoxious. So mate pished in his iron and left a shrimp and crab paste sandwich inder the carpet on his stairs. Moto is, be nice to workers in your house and make them a drink when you are having one.
