GranTurismo S question

Could someone please clarify for me if Skyhook is standard on the S or Mc shift cars?

I've been looking at one today, I can't see Skyhook specified but the deal tells me it's standard equiptment (sounds like **** but am willing to be corrected)

Also as for desirable options on the MC cars am I correct in the follow

Bose (although some people says its ****)
Comfort seats
Skyhook
Parking sensors front and rear

Am I missing anything from my list?

And finally the question that most people will ask and the answer is usually down to how it's driven, but here goes anyhow.... What is the clutch life like on one of these? Are we talking 30k miles driven sensibly or more?

Thanks and apologies for all the questions. Have tried google but get conflicting answers

Welcome.

Skyhook is standard on the GTS Auto and a cost option on the GTS MC Shift. Opinions vary so search on here, PH and maseratilife.

Comfort seats are great in that they are the only way to get heated seats.

Front parking sensors are very useful given the length of the bonnet. They are a cost option. Rears are standard.

No view on BOSE. I did not spec it. I once owned two Audi S4 Avants. One had BOSE, one did not. Sounded the same to me.

No clutch on my car so cannot help on the last point.

Hi S99ANE.

Skyhook is optional but divides opinion - some love it, others don't, many don't mind. I have it and like it. Comfort seats are important, front sensors almost critical in such a long car (rear are standard, I think), Bose upgrade is popular but in reality i don't think it makes a pile of difference. I believe the standard setup is still Bose, just lacks the big woofer on the back shelf. Also think about full leather seats vs leather with alcantra inserts. The seats aren't that grippy so with full leather you'll slide around a lot whereas alcantra holds you in place. I'm a big fan, personally.

As for clutch life my local MD has never changed one. I'm on 24k miles with 50% wear and mine was a London car previously so likely spent a lot of time slipping the clutch.

The single most important thing is to get a full indie inspection.

Good luck!

Selling a Nissan GTR? If so then the Maser will feel pretty slow.

I know what you mean. I took a 4.2 for a test drive on saturday and have to say was very underwhelmed, ended up taking it back after a few minutes. Made me realise I want a 4.7.

Most cars will feel slower after the GTR but I have a baby on the way and want to slow it down a little and want more useable rear seats.

Oh and thanks for the quick and helpful responses guys. So refreshing to find a forum that doesn't ***** n moan.

The thing with Maseratis, at least in my humble, is that speed isn't the end game. Such a burbling, gurgling, charismatic engine is a delight and doesn't need to be in the fastest car on the road. Some hot hatches aren't massively slower, but Maseratis have such charm and presence that you don't feel the need to go like the clappers. Naturally if you do then it's a hoot and the noise is hilarious, but it's not the be all and end all.

Just my view.

PS - there's enough room in the boot for a family of four's luggage for a week's holiday in Europe.

In the real world the 4.7 has pretty much all the powerand speed you need and can keep up with many supposedly faster cars (F430 springs to mind) if driven well, I would certainly not describe it as slow! the 4.2 is different and is in my view underpowered given its size and weight.

Re options, I would not get too bothered about skyhook, as said before some love it others don't. I specified mine without because I prefered the more predictable response but drive both and see what you think. Other options that are a must have are the comfort seats, although I think you would have a job finding a GT-S without them and probably parking sensors. Bose is ar pile of steaming C**p, especially given its cost. For the money you could have a very significant aftermarket system installed and it would sound worlds apart so would not bother me if a car did not have it. Bluetooth was an option on mine and works reasonably well, occasionally forgetting to pair with my phone but generally provides a good and useful function. Most should also come with an iPod connection although it is tempermental at best with a very cluncky interface. Other than that not much else.

Best of luck.

Got to agree the masser is about road pressance, there not the fastest on the road or the most agile, but god u know your driving one, people do stop and stare, added to the noise and the feeling you get from driving one you have a grin on you the size of the Severn bridge! And that feeling u get inside is only matched my a week of sexy fun with the girl of your dreams.!
Ofc this is my own opinion and should not be confused with that of a sane man.
