I've seen 2 Granturismo's on Autotrader at under 25k. Haven't looked for a while at prices so was quite surprised. Much more to drop?

There have been a few sub 25k cars over the last few months. Can't see them dropping much more, but supply and demand I suppose there are loads for sale.

If a new / facelift model comes as predicted I can see 4.2's going south, hardly anyone is buying them now, especially in black, and I think 4.7's will follow.

Only IMO MIND....

The GTs are dropping across the board, Stradales too. They are a victim of their own success as whilst they were not produced in huge numbers, they were hand assembled taking upwards of 3 weeks per unit to make, they have had a very long production run of 10+ years so there are plenty around.
I don't think any of the models have reached rock bottom yet but it won't be long now that production has all but ceased, bar the next facelift, details of which still remain sketchy

Beware of sub 25k GT's if mine is anything to go by. They will need some love, I suspect. There's a lot of stuff that doesn't fall into the service schedule, and fails without warning:
Springs
Oil pressure senders
Exhaust Manifolds
Regulator / Rectifiers.

Having said that, there's no obvious reason that a more expensive car won't show these faults as well as far as I can see

You're right and I think much of that is age related so we will see more and more of it, even on the lower mileage cars. Hopefully parts supply won't be a problem yet but the prices soon add up when you have multiple failures to deal with, and this will have a knock on effect to prices

<shrug> Who knows. I suspect people will still pay. There were things I knew needed doing on mine, but those where all extra. And the springs have been front and rear.....

I'm just not entirely convinced you can run a GT as cheaply as a 4200. It's harder for non-SD2 / 3 equipped indies to do work on them, and thus the labour rates go up. Then some of the parts are just stupidly over charging(alternator, manifold)

Glad I didn't buy mine as an investment !
I have to say that although I expected to see prices drop - they have dropped an awful lot more than I had planned (5k pa)
having said that, I am just one year into what I plan to be 5 years of ownership so it will be interesting to see if I end up with
20k car at the end or not (but I doubt it )

I have been watching them for a while now, hoping they would bottom out! I really want one but I'm struggling to bring myself to sell my 996 c4s! It's been such a good car to me...

Seen a bunch of sub 50k usd cars and they are all pure shitters thru n thru. You'll never see a genuinely good running well kept car for under 45k ever. Let alone 40...35 or 30 haha.

QP... completely different story. I'm sure we'll see worthwhile ghiblis in the 30s in 6months and good 50k mile examples in the 28-33k range in a year

I think all the GTS worth owning are going up. Give it 2yrs

Over five fantastic years and 30k miles mine has dropped by around 3k per annum. I'd say that's bloody good!

That's amazing ownership costs for a car with the looks and Sound.
Sounds like you
Should keep it as a daily and get a frolicking pony for weekends?
Or as my daughter calls it encouraging me (driving my wife insane) - 'yewow horsey'

Agree about the springs, had my car in just before the 5 year extended warranty expired and I had two broken springs. Warranty paid for all four as the broken ones were not on the same axle. The parts were quite cheap IIRC.

Also the a/c compressor is fragile, mine went at about 4 years old, again warranty covered it.

My car currently has a slight knocking from one of the shocks (still passed an MOT and drive's great) but they are about £800 ea and were on back order when we looked last month. One to keep an eye on and see how it progresses.

Yes, the springs are around £80 each and are made by Eibach. The shocks have an actuator on the top of them and are sold as a complete unit which is what makes them so expensive. I had to replace both rear springs & shocks on my GTS, it wasn't cheap!
