Always remember listening to Stuart Turner who was the Competition's Manager for BMC telling us young guns back in the early 80'S that the easiest way to make our cars go faster was to get rid of anything we could and make them lighter.
I think you need to take the Clock out.

I may well, it doesn't work!

A gratuitous rear end view showing the the newly fitted difuser with the muffled rear pipes.
It came to the UK with straight through rear pipes & no cats used in the Trofeo series which registered 124 dB so some silencing was required for our more polite UK circuits. I do still have these Trofeo pipes which may get an outing in the future

Thanks for your comments guys, I gave it a bit of shakedown today, it's first on my local country roads which was an experience and it feels better the faster it goes - a recipe for trouble right there!

Chapeau ^
Will be great to see you and the car once situation allows. Trackday surely beckons and bedford is the "safest" circuit, where there are no barriers.

Taking advantage of this sunny weather, a few jobs have been completed on the race car recently -

. Aux 12v power socket fitted
. Dead key for extra security - the car doesn't have any door locks and can just be fired up with a toggle switch & push button starter
. Reverse lights now fitted - the car has standard GT light clusters on the boot which still had bulb holders & bulbs present! There is a redundant toggle switch on the console which now connects to these lights so whilst you need to remember to operate the switch when reversing, it was a whole lot easier than getting to the switch on the gearbox
. Steering wheel hook fitted to rollcage. You need to remove the wheel to get in & out of the car and there never seems to be a convenient place to rest the steering wheel as the cable linking the wheel controls to the main dashboard is quite short
. New wide angle convex rear view mirror fitted, now my rear view is filled with even more rollcage when I'm trying to reverse!
. Decal set chosen & ordered. Hopefully this will be manufactured & ready to fit next month which will transform the look of the car

The next job will be to work on trying to make it less leaky. I have some neoprene waterproof strip from Demon Tweaks to fit under the windows and have sourced some caps to use as blankers for the drilled ventilation holes in the rear screen. Hopefully the end caps for using at the bottom of tubular chair & table legs will do the trick!

I have a sticking handbrake which needs to be attended to as well as a suspicious petrol smell from the tank so it could be time to investigate & change the foam filled bladder tank which will be a costly job but it can wait as I can't really drive the car at the moment - it's hardly the vehicle to take out on essential grocery trips!
