Are you going to try and get the Maserati racing suits and crash helmet to finish the overall effect. I know that when owners bought the original two seat Stradale the suit, helmet and gloves were offered as an option.

I don't think I'll go that far Andy - that reminds me of the guys dressed head to toe in camo at military vehicle shows.
They would be cool bits of kit to have, but I have never seen anyone with them - I'm not sure what the uptake was like

@StuartW where can you get the Maserati decal for the top of the windscreen?

Given my car is only a weekender, I wouldn't mind having this on it.

VDO do fuel tank float tubes of various lengths you’ll need to pair it with one of their fuel gauges. But it means you can run a custom foam filled alloy tank and a working gauge.

Yes, this is what I am doing - it is booked in with a motorsport company local to me, to get this carried out next month

Yes, not sure many took this option. Sort of understand why.

Is there any reason why your not putting a standard GTS fuel tank in? Weight? I didn't think the standard one was that heavy and obviously the pump and float sender unit would work.
..... Oh just realised, I assume you don't have an oem dash with fuel gauge, so thats probably why.

A pair of dungarees used to be good enough to win Le Mans.

It probably wouldn't fit into the space a standard one would go as the configuration in the boot is completely different to the road car.
It has a carbon fibre crash box which protects the bladder fuel cell and the box has the pumps and pipework built into it. I am aiming to retain all of this pipework, just with an aluminum tank inside the crash box in place of the bladder tank so outwardly, it will not look any different.
Again, with most things I am doing to the car, nothing has been done on one of these before so I don't have a point of reference but hopefully tis will work just fine

I have to replace all of the bonnet clips & catches which involves riveting into a composite double skinned panel which will be another challenge.
Perhaps a threaded insert would be simpler. Tappex would be worth talking to.

After much searching, I finally have tracked down a suitable set of tyres for my unusual sized wheels. The fronts are 18" x 11" which equate to 285 35 18 and which were not too hard to find but the colossal rears are 18" x 13". I currently have a pair of Michelin 345 35 18 which fit fit but which Michelin stopped producing around 15 years ago so they're not ideal. They are hardly used and were stored well so are in decent condition and I will be happy with them for road use but when I am pushing on, I wouldn't be too confident. These are the same wheel sizes as a Jaguar XJ220 and tyres are made specifically for them by Bridgestone at a mere £4k+ per set so I chose to look elsewhere!

It turns out that these sized wheels are also used on a Dodge Viper and whilst they are not a UK supplied car so the tyres are not generally available through the normal sources, they can be found in the US & mainland Europe. The Viper uses 335 30 18 which are a smaller rolling circumference to mine but at least they will fit and I will be using a GPS wireless speedometer for speeds anyway as mine only has a KPH read out so I'm not too fussed about that discrepancy.

I found a guy who has just bought a Viper which came with an unused second set of four P Zero Rossos and which he wanted rid of, so a decent saving for me.

The car goes away for the new fuel tank next week and when it returns I need to fit the new bonnet clips, wheel arch liners, change the wheel, apply the decals and then it should be almost ready to go

The car has been loaded up this morning to go to EDF Motorsport in Bourne for a bespoke foam filled aluminum fuel tank to be made & fitted. This will take the place of the bladder bag fuel cell which it has currently and will no longer need to be replaced every five years, or when it starts to leak as mine is doing currently. The new tank will still be housed in the carbon fibre crash box in the boot & utilise the twin fuel pumps and pipework so will outwardly not look any different
It was a bit of a snug fit in the trailer which has comfortably transported Noble & Aston Martin GT4s previously, these Granturismos are huge!

The crash box has now been removed and the leaking fuel cell discarded. It's now down to the fabricators to make the tank which will have a top lid so that it can be foam filled. We will then source & fit a float sender and gauge after which time the car will be safe to drive once again

Are those ducts in the boot for brake cooling?

Yes, it has front & rear brake cooling ducts.

If you look at my earlier photos of the side of the car, you will be able to see that the rear brake cooling comes via scoops cut into the rear side windows, which are plexi, and the fresh air runs across the brakes via the air hose that you see above

The fuel tank has now been completed and the pumps fitted. The foam is in and the rest of the pipe work needs to be fitted and then it will be ready to go back into the crash box and into the car - not long now until it's back home for me to get on with the rest of the jobs.

What capacity is the tank?

It should be c. 80 litres, just waiting to see the original sketches so that I can make some calculations. The bag tank was an impressive 107 litres and the road car is 86, so anything in that ball park will be fine by me
