Gransport warning lights

About a week ago two lights appeared simultaneously on my dash.

One indicates a failure in the electronic suspensions system and the other indicates a failure in the cambiocorsa gearbox.

I pulled over and switched off the engine. On restarting, both lights were still on. As I was only a few hundred meters from my destination I continued. Just before arriving, the lights disappeared.

Today i took it for another run and both lights came back on. Lasted a few minutes and disappeared. I came home and they came back on for about 30 seconds as I was entering my property and again disappeared.

The car has been running well but on one ocassion in the last two weeks, first gear slipped into neutral twice as i was driving up my drive way and also clunked once when I put it into reverse.

Are these things related? Am i going to have to sell one of my kids to pay for the repairs?

Hi George,
It's possible you may have low fluid in the gearbox, I remember a thread on this some time ago. It might be worth having an indie check the levels, or you could have a go yourself, but it's a ***** to get to the top of the gearbox as I remember..?? I think because the two systems are linked in a way, is the reason for both lights coming on. Look at: http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/sho...instructions-With-pics?highlight=Gearbox+4200 Have the fuses arrived yet..??

Hi Robert
clutch has about 30%b wear.
When it slipped into Neutral, the N came on but I'm not sure if it was flashing. It may have just been on without flashing.
I had an annual service done recently - not sure if gearbox levels were looked at but I will ask the indy. I did check the oil level myself the other day and it was substantially higher than the max line. I was concerned about this so rang the indy that replaced the oil and he suggested it was nothing to worry about?

Fuses haven't arrived yet but I would say early next week - we are a long way from you blockers :)

Cheers

Hi George,

Should not be clutch then by the sound of it, when it popped in to neutral, did you by any chance hear the pump whirring, I know it's difficult with the noise..? If it has had a service I would get it back to the indie who did it (if it did not do this before) and get them to sort it. It could be F1 pump related, or even a relay related to the pump, they sometimes stick due to the load they take. Best of luck with it.

Yes I have the FD DBW Adrian. In fact it has not been in very long. I look forward to getting your advice tomorrow.
By the way Robert, I did change the F1 pump relay last week to be on the safe side but the lights issue has appeared again since.

Further to the last two warning lights, today, I had the MSP AND ABS lights come on one after the other.
These as well as the other two, would go on for a while and disappear then reappear etc throughout the day. Sometimes they would stay off for only a few minutes other times for 30 minutes or more ( i did a fair amount of driving with some of the other guys from MaseratiOZ ).

My recently installed FD DBW may be the culprit. I will do a battery reset and see what happens.
If no luck will get the dbw over ride plug installed.
Any other suggestions?

George, in order to get to the root of the problem, get it plugged in to a diagnostic machine so you're not guessing what it could be. Hope it's nothing major.

Hi Richard
when the first pair of lights had come on a few weeks ago, I did get it plugged in but nothing showed up according to the indy that I used.

Hmm... I had a kind of similar problem over Christmas. I had the suspension light, ABS light and MSP light all come on. It turned out to be a faulty sensor on one of the wheel barings.

As Dicky said, get it plugged in with a good specialist if you can - don't re-set the battery so fault codes are stored.

Too late! I've switched off the power and will do the reset in the morning. My reasoning was that if it doesn't fix the problem, the lights will come back on and the error will be recorded again, or am I missing something in my logic or lack therof?
