Hi all,
I was just wondering if anybody has come across production numbers by colour for Australian delivered Gransports?
That is, how many Australian delivered Gransports were Nero Carbonio, Grigio Alfieri, Rosso Mondiale etc.
I have seen these sorts of stats for the UK but not for Australia. Would be interesting to see.
Thanks

The problem for statistics is the Aussie dollar was particularly strong against the pound 10 or 11 years ago and a lot of Gransports were privately imported as they represented tremendous value, mine included. From looking at carsales ads over the years, I would say two thirds of Gransports in Australia are imports mostly from the UK.
An Australian delivered Gransport has a green plate visible when you lift the bonnet. Imported ones have a pink sticker on the passenger door pillar.
Ferrari 360 were also a popular import at that time for the same good value reasons.

I can't speak for the coupes (which were produced in much greater volumes) but I have reasonably detailed records for the 6 Aussie delivered gransport spyders. I also have half complete records for the other 38 RHD examples from UK, singers, honkers, etc. Of the Aussie 6, 2 were Nero carbonio, 1 Rosso mondiale, 1 Grigio alfieri, 1 nettuno blue and I suspect the last was also Nero carbonio. So 3 of them are likely 1 of 1 in that colour for Aussie delivery. I'd presume about 20 to 30 coupes were Aussie delivered. The numbers of UK coupes in Aus is much higher... generally 80 to 90% of coupes for sale at any one time are grey imports.

Between ADG, myself, Nuvola we reckoned around 80 Gransports went to Australia in the 2013-15 period. Probably about another 30-50 from other dealers. There’s probably around 180 U.K. cars left.

I shouldn't really be surprised, the same happened with my old Lotus Elise S1 111s, it was a frenzy, sold within 30 mins of posting on Pistonheads to a guy in France, the exchange rate was nearly 1:1 back in 2011.
It worked to my advantage, got top price to enable me to buy my 4200, which had dropped in price at the time due to the banking crisis.

1999 60k miles Elise to a 2002 11k miles Maserati for an extra £3k!
