Gransport - Euro or US manifolds?

Hmmm - now I’m wondering whether to go for a secondary cat delete and just put race pipes on…

What are people’s thoughts on the pros and cons of doing a secondary cat delete versus putting sports cats on?

That it will sound better, exhaust better and your MOT may be a fail on emissions...
It seems a bit of a gamble in so much as reports vary regarding MOT results...
Were it not for this, Id say do it...! :battered:

I have every intention of getting rid of the US spec asap, no cat should be that close to the engine and speed bumps!

Me thinks the race pipes would be too much......
You may want to re-read Maf thread, look for some Euro spec manifolds....

I've got secondary cat delete with straight through pipes, standard silenced centre x pipe and rear box delete with straight through pipes. Passes MOT's no problem with very low emissions.

Bit too loud if I'm honest but as I don't use mine much it doesn't matter too much. Sounds nice though!

Not sure whether to put rear boxes back on or secondary cats and maybe unsilenced x pipe.

Was chatting to Dave who came round to look at my 4200 on Thursday and he had Larini rear boxes on one of his and said he found it a bit droney.

The blue 4200 I'm just about to sell has rear box delete with straight through pipes. Rest is stock. Sounds good but again too loud as often used car. Especially if wife goes in it!

I suspect the rear box delete is easy cheap mod to get more volume but too much for me I think.

You might be good on GS with standard GS back boxes, secondary decat with straight pipes and unsilenced centre x pipe. That could be the golden setup I reckon.

Mmmm....just noticed I have US on the Grigio 4200 and Euro on the Blue 4200.....mmmm

Wonder if it worth the pain to do some swapping before I sell the blue one?

Need to lift the engine tho, if it’s Manifolds you are thinking....

It’s slightly disappointing to know I’ve got the US manifolds, but from reading the thread by MAF it sounds like a right pain in the **** to swap the manifolds.

I’ve currently got a non-silenced H-pipe on the car and think I want to keep the standard back boxes, so the decision is whether to go for the Larini sports cats, or the race pipes...

Race pipes are quite a bit cheaper, which is tempting.

The other alternative is to send the back boxes to be modified, but I like the idea of being able to revert the car to stock if needed.

Choices, choices, choices....

I reckon you would be OK with the race pipe. Worse case you don't like it out old section back and sell race pipe. Not too much pain financial or otherwise.

If you can do it yourself even better.

Just looking at my 4200 with US headers and doesn't look too bad to get them out. Not sure why engine needs lifting. The 4200 seems a little tighter with Euro headers.

Wtf?
Thought it was for life.....
Yellow Lambo next?

WTF indeed.
You have been very quiet the last year or so though.

Time for a change as I've had her almost 7 years and done everything I want to do with her. Time to create some new memories in a new toy.

Not a Lamborghini (yet, at least), and not yellow!

Would you return the exhaust to stock before you sell, or sell it as modified?

The car will be sold as is. It's so well-known it would be pointless to change it. I have removed the stripes though.

Clearance required to get over the studs apparently
Fair enough....I've not done so no idea. Does look very doable though as looks like loads of clearance. I'm sure people have tried and failed already though so I'll not reinvent the wheel!

Quick call to Marious will confirm. Mark is handy with the spanner’s,so I reckon if he could have done it himself he would have....

The left hand one isn’t too bad, the right hand one, oh mama.

But it is doable, with plenty of tools and patience and at the very least a vehicle lift. And yes, you have to lift the engine, but only a little bit.
