Hi folks,

Not been around the forums to much this year, but have managed to drop by a for a quick look occasionally!

Can anyone advise how/where I found out the build date of my GS?
Is it stamped anywhere?

PM Loz, he has the email address for the head guy at Maserati UK who looks after the coupes, you will need your chassis number.

I think this might be the guy: paul: pgreen@maserati.co.uk

Hey Parisien, I will try!
Matt, yes its up on PH and AutoTrader, bit of a change of circumstances in the last 6 months has meant less time on Maser forums and the GS has to go!

Currently in negotiations with a guy from Oz re the car, he wants to know the build date (not the first reg date) something to do with Oz imports I think?

Hi Chillo, how are you. Have you enjoyed the GS? Did it live up to expectations after the CSL.....Hope you get a buyer soon.

Hi Andy,

Yes thoroughly enjoyed having the GS, really don't want to part with it! but just not a viable proposition now!
Its fantastic car and to be a honest so much car for the money and mine in particular has been a bit of a bargain.
Will defo consider coming back to a GS in the future when I dont have to do so many miles! (I would have this very car again)

Hi Chillo,

Yes the reason he wants the build date is because all cars as I understand it were built between 2004-2007 the actual build date is what he needs to put on a special import plate which gets attached to the body. So even if your car was first reg in 2008 the import plate needs to reflect the actual build date. This is all to do with Australian standards set by the government.

I was under the impression that the chassis number was coded in such a way that you could tell when ANY car was built? It might not be month specific, but am pretty sure its year specific.

Having taken one or two of these cars apart extensively , i can confirm that a lot of the parts are numbered with a marker pen and or sticker with the date and name of the builder who assembled it , for those that have done a factory visit , you will understand exactly how the Maserati build system works , Various parts trolleys are allocated to the assembly line fitters labeled and timed , Look underneath the car or behind either bumper on the inside its always marked as are the subframes etc

It is the model year that is embedded in the VIN, which is not necessarily the same as build year...

Enzo.
