GrandTurismo - at the ‘shallower’ end of the market

Hi all, after much reading and lurking I’m in a position to look for a GranTurismo.

I have a budget of up to £27.5k but would be more comfortable below £25k as I’m well used to initial spend on cars to get them to standard.

At this end of the market I’m aware that I’m looking 4.2 (I’d rather a good 4.2 than a poor 4.7) and I’m really not bothered about auto or MC shift - by necessity I’ll need to do a degree of town driving which is why I’m not put off by the auto.

Parking sensors are a must, but can get them retro-fitted if needed. Heated seats similarly important. Black wheels are pretty strong turnoff, though appreciate they can be changed (it’s just more faff).

anyone knows of any cars coming up please do let me know - there are a couple of cars in London which look agreeable but forum cars are always a better bet. I’m based just outside London, between London and Oxford.

cheers!

Nicola London? That's a trendy fashion house where Mr Scruff can buy some natty new togs to go with his lovely new car.
Welcome Mr S. As you can see you'll get all sorts of helpful info on here!

Thanks all, I’ve actually been lurking for a while just to swot up on the cars - now I should be in a position to buy…. Spousal agreement has been received, even with a frank disclosure of possible running costs :)

I’ll give Nuvola a call, should have thought of that as I’ve browsed their website before! Let’s see where we get to

I'd definitely go for a 4.7 over a 4.2 for a multitude of reasons which loads have documented over several threads on here.

But the main one being that it just sounds so much better!

Stevo's sounds good and his is a 4.2. Just to be contradictory... ;)

Get a 4.7 and please, get it inspected underneath, they can look lovely up top with a string of bills underneath

Looks very nice and a full paper trail of history.
Even though it's been inspected and has a no advisories MOT I would still want to have a good look underneath on a two post lift
Good Luck.

That has to be worth serious consideration and may well not be too far above your original budget. I’d un-tint the lights, but other than that, it looks and reads to be a good contender. And with the preferred gearbox. Go check it out.

Yes, agree it feels like strong money for the year. Variatiors and new clutch positives but more than I’d ideally like to spend.

Messages to Nuvola and Richard Grace also been sent. I know 4.2 is very much the poor relation but not ruling it out - I have a Ducati for the speed hit and living in the South East means driving is often a frustrating experience in faster cars.

Will see. Problem is I’m not that good at being patient and the money burning a hole in my pocket :saifi1: Should really sell my Alfa too, but it’s worth so little….

Evening, where are you in the south East? I'm down in Folkestone. Did similar last year and have a 4.2 which I am slowly returning to full glory. Decided colour and spec was most important with other changes then possible.

Mainly cosmetic but did go in eyes wide open expecting suspension work and had a full inspection. Subframes always key!

Currently having a load of bits done but they should put her in a really good state going forwards.

As long as you are comfortable with some large bills then the rewards are worth it (imo).

It's a lovely thing and with a subtle exhaust the 4.2 can sound mighty.
