Can I just double check what the difference is with having a quad exhaust and the oval type exhaust? Do they both have valves to open and close on sport mode? Assume both 4.7? Example with quad exhausts. Many thanks

It does get a little confusing, but if I remember right....
4.7 early cars -
Oval pipes = MC-shift . Valves open when Sport button is pressed.
Quad pipes =Auto. Valves open only when Sport is pressed and revs are over around 3.5k rpm (unless its an MC Auto then acts as MC_shift above)

Facelift cars (2012/13 onwards) all had oval pipes that open with sport mode.

Correct Sam, to clarify, an ‘MC Auto’ being a 12MY car with optional sport pack; therefore having oval pipes a la MC Shift or 13MY Granturismo Sport.

If we are going down this rabbit hole you could also get the oval pipes on the 11MY GTS auto as part of a body pack to make the auto look like the GTS externally.

Oh and it’s 3000 revs which strangely enough is 100mph in sixth.

And to take it a step further on the oval exhaust you could get a carbon finish.

I assume that’s part of an optional extra like the carbon exterior pack?

I’d be quite interested if there were an after market option but don’t think it’s been done...

Also to note, when the above mentioned later MC auto shift is in manual & sport mode the valves are open all the time regardless of RPM.
