Gran Turismo 2008 - New (but old) owner

Long time listener first time caller I have been following the forum since last year when I became the proud owner of a 2008 granturismo since May last year but haven't had the time to really dedicate to getting it sorted out (had previously been a bit neglected but was better as ok by an indy (plus 911 had to go as kids were getting fed up in the back).

So far I have:
  1. Had it remapped by DMS (more power and much quicker shifts) no comments saying I should just have got the 4.7 please :p)
  2. Replaced rear skyhook shocks as sods law 6 months into ownership one started leaking
  3. Had it serviced by Ebor GT in York (fantastic service from Angus)
  4. Replaced the rear parking sensors
  5. Replaced a dying seat motor
  6. Replacing rusting wheel bolts with larini / FD ones
  7. Replaced the battery with a yuhasa one due to odd gremlins on startup

To do / advice sought:
  1. I need to get a chip kit to repair some v minor damage on door edges but for the life of me can't find the colour code (can't find anything in engine bay- where internet says to look). The car is black. Does anyone know what it would be?
  2. The car has the aux input in the glovebox but no src input in the head unit JCT Leeds (who are frankly not interested) say the head unit already has the latest f/w so there is nothing they can do. Sounds fishy to me? (Would love the carplay mod)
  3. There is a very intermittent (in that it doesn't happen often but when it does it seems to go on for a couple of days) squeak from the passenger side rear wheel. It changes based on speed but appears to be unaffected by breaking. Any ideas?
  4. The leather has started to peel in a couple of areas. Any advice on the best adhesive - I think I have seen some recommended on here but can't find the post again.

Looking at getting it properly detailed and some minor leather damage repaired - any advice for people in Yorkshire region?

That's it for now - thanks in advance

Pete

Welcome along.

Can’t answer much but JCT relieved me of about £100 to update my software and give me a £2 Y cable to get music working on my 2009 model.
It did bugger all. But same as you they were quite proud stating that I now ‘have the latest software’ .... that made bugger all difference.

JCT are a bit incompetent unfortunately, exhaust flap solenoid, costs a fortune sir, we’ve fixed it (they wiggled it with some WD40). Still broke. Got it replaced for about £70.

Gearbox issue. I had to tell them what I wanted doing, I quote “we never do anything on these gearboxes or clutches”, I lie not. They paid it lip service, Marios at auto shield sorted it in less than a day.

Like an idiot though I’ll probably still use them for servicing stamp. I hope they’re reading this. I may get black balled lol.

You need a Loom to run from the Glovebox to the back of the NIT and then a visit to the dealer for a proxy upgrade.

Paint code is on the underside of the bonnet on the passenger side, usually.

Welcome along. I’m in Leeds and we occasionally have meet ups around Yorkshire so hopefully will catch up at some point.

I think @MrMickS had his Ghibli detailed at Max Car Care in Sutton on the Forest and was happy with the result but maybe DM him for feedback.

JCTs attitude is very frustrating - if it was older than a couple of years they don't seem to care.

For the loom - can it be bought from eurospares? JCT didn't seem interested in the proxy upgrade (am I correct in thinking that the proxy file is unique per vehicle). Are any other main dealers better in this regard?

Theres no labelling (barring the setting out label re fluids etc) do you have to remove the cover panels?

Re Yorkshire meet that would be great - is there anything on the calendar?

Will give @MrMickS a DM - thanks

If it’s metallic black, it’s probably “Nero carbonio”. But if you give the chassis number to a Maserati main dealer, they should be able to tell you the original full order spec of the car (assuming it is a UK car).

Yep metallic black UK car.

Thanks for the info - will try one of the MDs (not JCT)

Did you go into you menu -> car configuration -> sound ? If the proxi is loaded correctly it should have an option to enable aux and then you get the source selection. If it is not there then you need a proxi update. Proxi is specific for your car/options. If the plug is in the glovebox i would assume you have the cable as well.

Sprout I’d never heard of Ebor until this thread, they run Maserati race cars ?

Can you tell me more about them I’m astonished I’ve never heard of them.

Yes they ran 2 GT Stradale - but as Maserati have pulled out of racing they are both up for sale (I believe one is being converted into a road car...). I think they used to also race a 458 but am not sure

They are based out of angus' place off the a64. They specialise in rebuilding exotics - last time I was there they were rebuilding a rhd South African barn find miura. I think however they are going to focus less on maseratis due to the lack of racing but that said I will still be taking mine there for servicing with MD diagnostics as required

Option isn't there unfortunately.

Fingers crossed on cabling.

Any MD up North (who aren't JCT) that anyone would say would be more helpful?

Will they do normal work on customers cars then as their FB and website is very much based around the race cars? Would they have an SD3 machine?

JCT are only good for servicing after that it’s Marios in Manchester for me or Falcon in Middlesbrough for some work. SD3 machines being available are few and far between near us unfortunately

I've seen the white stradale they're converting from a race car to road car, it's currently at CSKRaceExhausts in York. It's where I am getting some work done myself. CSK are removing the 100 cell cats it currently has and fabricating new 200 cell cats, to make it legal.

Certainly sounds fruity when started!

What works have falcon done for you if you dont mind me asking?

They had an SD3 for the race cars but it would only provide minimum diagnostics for my GT.

Welcome. Regarding your second point 3, these cars are quite chatty. I had the front bushes replaced on mine recently but before and since it has a creak after been driven for 20+ minutes that I hear at low speed with lock on or on bumpy terrain. Car drives fine but noise is a tad annoying!

Chatty is a perfect description of the noise. Have begun using it to the wife to say it's not a squeak :)
