Got a GranSport yesterday - my first Maserati

Hi all, I thought I'd introduce myself as I bought my first Maserati, and indeed my first V8.

My car history has been pretty varied... Mini Cooper S, Abarth 500, VX220, Elise, Exige, S2000, Clio V6, GT86, 911, Cayman S. I've wanted a GranSport for years though, but never quite went as far as test driving one. In particular I've always wanted an Argento luna GranSport.

So last week I test drove an i8 and almost put a deposit down on one, but changed my mind when I randomly found myself here and spotted this up for sale: https://www.sportsmaserati.com/index.php?threads/2006-gransport-for-sale-34-000-miles-£25-995.26881/

After speaking with Dave, and Dicky Grace (thanks again Dicky) I felt very reassured that the car is a good 'un, having been religiously serviced every year. Despite never having sat in a Maserati, let alone driven one I put down the deposit and booked a taxi to Leeds, a 6:45am train to manchester airport, and an 11am flight to Southampton where Dave kindly picked me up with a full tank of fuel. The car is stunning, paintwork is in very, very good condition, as is the interior. It was a really easy transaction, so thanks again Dave for making it a nice experience - great to meet you.

The drive back was hard - a 5 hour slog back up north, feathering the throttle so I didn't have to stop for fuel. However, when I got back to familiar roads I thought I'd open it up a bit. I pressed on, and then realised I was only using half throttle, so I used the rest and it was VERY fast indeed. And the noise! Amazing.

Needless to say, I'm VERY pleased with it, and very thankful that the previous owners have looked after it. I think I'll be going to Cars in the Park in Leeds on Sunday this week so hopefully I'll bump into a few locals too.

Welcome to the fold! You will love every minute of it. Cherish it too as things can and will change suddenly...

Almost ended up with an i8 but got yourself into a (dicky Grace prepped) Gransport in the end.

Superb choice.

I almost bought a V10 R8, then I sat in a Maserati.

;)

Thanks for the welcome everyone!
I like it!

Meaning, big V8 cars won't be here forever, petrol might not be around forever, the green eco lot try to ban them from towns and cities and we might all die tomorrow! :D Just enjoy and live life like every day is your last. Hey things can't get much better for you now have a Maserati in your life.

:D

Yes all very true - we’re here for a fun time, not a long time and all that. However, I must admit that my wife’s all electric Smart ForTwo arrives next weekend. I think that balances out the V8, right?!

Congratulations, a beautiful colour :)

Spent far too much admiring it on RG’s site than is truly healthy.

Great choice, have you still got clio? if you can make it out from avatar the V6 & V8 sit nicely together.
