Sold my daily driver Ghibli petrol and have bought a 2013 GT - S- MC Autoshift from Dicky - lovely car that was owned by Stindig of this parish.

Bought 3 weeks ago but work commitments in the interim mean I'm battling Storm Dennis tomorrow to pick her up. Not using her as a daily so something else will be joining the fleet shortly.

Very pleased.

Be very interested in hearing your opinion. You could argue it’s a step backwards but I feel your opinion will be quite the reverse.

We will see.

Surely it’s a step forwards, top of range car from a bottom of range car. A GT Sport is way dearer and more car than a Ghibli. @DaveT has owned one before so knows how good they are.

TBF I drove Daves Petrol Ghibli and I was quite taken aback how good it was. It was the base petrol with upped HP to the S spec.

Interesting.

Thing is I wanted a V8 keeper and didn't want to be running more than one Maser so the Ghibli had to go.

Really good car as a daily though and would recommend to anyone who is looking to run a petrol Ghibli on that basis.

Shite brakes though hey Dave?

Think after your up in spec, they were not up to the job and defiantly needed the 6 pot on the front.

As I've said on another thread, I had a base petrol Ghibli is a courtesy car for five days. I think I would go broke running it, when I returned the car it was averaging about 14mpg!!
Also one the novelty had worn off, the noise from the exhaust was frankly daft. Starting up from cold you would be greeted was a deafening racket, with the car idling at some 1200rpm. I thought the days of ridiculous fast idle were gone on modern engines. Then on the motorway there is an ever present background drone from the exhaust even when in my preferred ICE mode.
Suffice to say I was very happy to get back in to my quiet diesel Ghibli.
All that noise is what you might expect in a sports car, but surely the Ghibli is supposed to be an executive car.
That said, the GT looks great, it just shows what a great timeless design Maserati came up with for that car.

Take it as you find it I guess but over 33,000 driven miles I averaged 28.9 mpg in mine.
Only once drove it in ICE mode mind you for 5 miles when I was limping along the M26 trying to get to the next services to fill up.

Never heard anyone being negative re the sound of it until now but hey ho. I have driven a Diesel but won't go into my thoughts as I don't want to spoil my good mood before tomorrow's car pick up. ;)

I'm not a fan of the Ghibli 3 (just my personal opinion) but I have heard a few of the petrol ones taking off from the lights, and they always sounded fantastic to me!!

Indeed, the S Spec Ghibli has the larger front brake calipers but most people who up their regular Ghibli, just increase the bhp and not uprate the brakes and I guess it shows.
At least the somewhat inadequate GT brakes won't come as a surprise tomorrow as he has owned one before!
