I know it’s Italian and we have to suffer rattles... but there’s one that bugs the **** out of me. Glovebox rattle. Its a very light, high frequency one on uneven surfaces and is almost certainly the lock / catch assembly, as it disappears when you drive with it open. Also, you can waggle the stick thing about a bit when open, that slides in and out (the catch?)

Question is, do they all do this? I would take a punt on a new catch but they are over £200 ( only about £60 for lhd version, the bastards) which is quite a lot for a punt, a new one may have the same movement in it?

Almost seems wurth buying a 3d printer if its made of plastic and seeing if you can make the bits. Otherwise a bit of blue tack?

If it’s not the stay/damper it could be the catch. There’s a fair bit of adjustment in it so I’d try that first.

The handle and latch are separate, to get at them you need to take the glovebox lid off then separate the felt back from the front. The handle and locking key can be removed and the lock itself. I’d imagine only the handle is sided. I think the handle has its own spring as well as the latch and the locking bit is integrated in the handle so either may be loose.

Check the ‘inner’ isn’t broken / cracked mine was and causing an annoying rattle.
I replaced it when doing the heater matrix as it would be very difficult with dash in.

I had exactly the same noise in my old BMW 328.

I roughened up the latch with a bit of 1000 grit wet and dry and that sorted it out. Don't know if it's the same with yours but I fecking hate squeaks and rattles too.

You can adjust the whole door by loosening the 4? screws at the bottom hinge and adjusting the door. This can either apply more pressure to the latch or less depending on if you move it towards the front of the car or back. Either way, it will change the latch alignment and most definitely solve your problem.

I think this might be it... found a large crack in the side of this piece. They’re £30 ish on eurispares so cheers for this tip. Only problem... I really hope you can change it with dash in place.....

I’ve removed the entire lid with the dash in place.

I’ve also had the whole lid and glovebox itself out... this piece is the ‘back’ that stays in place when you remove the lid..l it looks like the screws / bolts ? fix in from behind maybe

Glad it helped, it’s screwed in from the back of the dash in 4 places and also one into the air bag frame.
It might be possible to do in place but time consuming.

I wrapped the horizontal bar in tape and the rattle went away. So for me it was plastic bar touching plastic hook.
