Giulietta Sprint advice please

I was at the Historics auction last weekend and liked the. look of the Giulietta Sprint they had. It didn’t sell and apparently failed get near the reserve.

I know almost nothing about Alfas so am keen to learn. Anyone got any comments or observations? To my untrained eye it looks as if those seats shouldn’t have any writing on them. Also, was a floor shift correct? I seem to have an idea that they were column shift.

the restoration file was comprehensive and all import stuff was properly documented.

Looking forward to learning from you experts.

I know nothing about these cars but a quick hunt on google confirms the floor change, I agree with you about the lettering on the seats, looks odd.

Good luck with your search

A good friend has one and worked for Alfa through this period so I have asked him about it. Any feedback I will share. He may even know the car.

I've been watching this car for some time. Had a 68 round tail spider in the past that I restored to concourse condition, it is stunning but having sold mine, it was a 1300 Junior, i think what maybe against it is the engine size. It was never a problem with me but some people may view it differently. I think the sprints and spiders seem to be softening in value but i've always wanted a sprint but can't bring myself to self the gransport at the minute

Looks very nice, there is a very strong Giulietta register in the UK I am sure they will know this car but I can't remember seeing those seats before (pretty sure not original). Friend has a 1300 single carb spider and it never feels slow especially on A and B roads. Prices were very strong on these so interesting to hear they are softening

Thanks Guy. Looks like a new car.
My friend does not know this one but shared the following;

It's known unofficially as a 750B interim model. My car is a pukka 750B. Interim because whilst mechanically the same the body styling was updated with features to be introduced on the 101 series in late '59.

Not as valuable as a 750B but more £££'s than a 101!

On a good day should have made £55k plus.

Thanks Guy. In the end I passed on this because of concerns over reliability, which may have been unfounded. I’ve completely restored three cars now and each one went through a fairly painful period of running and teething problems. Some bigger than others, and entirely to be expected, but I don’t want to do this to a car I’ve not restored myself. This lovely little Alfa looks as if it’s just been finished and I just couldn’t believe it’s been shaken down thoroughly.

Instead I’ll hold off for a genuinely campaigned pre-‘57 car that’s MM eligible and accept that I’ll pay double for the peace of mind.

I’m sure it’ll find a grateful new home and if anyone is interested I’ll happily discuss privately what it might cost to clinch the deal.
