Giulietta Oil filler

Well this is a new one on me. Mrs C's Giulietta has a plastic oil cap. It will not come off, just turns with a highly annoying clicking noise in either direction. Much like one of those annoying pill bottles.

Any suggestions or do I just get medieval with a dremel?

You'll have to go medieval Chris as the internal mechanism has probably left the room and a new cap will be needed.

Something else not really needed in my opinion for many years we've had conventional caps doing the job.
The 46 years old one on my BMW works exactly as it should Chris.
 
What engine is the Giulietta? My wife has one also, but normal old metal filter? And that was in the worst place ever!

Totally. The Ghibli is totally passive as far as I can tell. No idea what it's meant to acheive?

Probably meant to give the required torque to seal. I like the 1/4 turn BMW and Mercedes filler caps. The one on the Mercury just pushes on.

I did actually pull the Ghibli's. Just a plain plastic cap with a seal and a couple of metal ears. Won't turn more than 90 degrees.

Oh well. Get to play with my battery Dremel-a-like I guess. Turned out it wasn't great at cleaning jade.
