Kinnel, thought I'd logged on to the wrong forum here.........handbags at dawn:omg:

I'd hang around to read more but I'm just off to clean my 8c, take the Veyron for a drive and service the 458 so I've a busy day.

Cheers Wattie :saifi3:

Just to go bAck to the original point. I have had as most know in here a Ghibli Diesel for four and a half years, and had the opportunity to try a standard petrol. I would definitely stick with the diesel, the petrol economy was frankly awfull, and I know everyone on here likes a loud exhaust, but the racket when you started the petrol and then the continual drone from the engine when your driving, made me glad I saved the five grand when I bought my car.
Whilst the diesel is definitely noisier when cold , when warmed up its more refined then the petrol, and the enormous torque gives it similar performance.
If you want something with ridiculous exhaust sound, why not buy a 21 year Old's modded Vauxhall Corsa!!

Sorry I seemed to have caused offence to some previous or possibly current Vauxhall Corsa owners...

None taken by me.
They were good sellers back in the early 2000'S first time drivers loved them and sold a few along with Saxos and 106'S.

I literally can’t believe you are talking about fuel economy when the depreciation on the Ghibli diesel is literally ludicrous. It’s impossible to support the purchase of a Ghibli on any fiscal grounds. However there is no doubt they are a more attractive styling decision than the better tech’ed and performing German alternatives. Petrol vs diesel is a matter of opinion - I wouldn’t like to predict the spread on this forum (I could but wouldn’t like to).
I love your enthusiasm for the car- and I wish I kept mine for longer!
PS- I have never owned a Vauxhall Corsa but my wife had one for years and loved it. Have to say if didn’t sound quite as loud as my GTS but admittedly it was better than my old 3 series diesel.
