The manual sport mode with paddles in my QP6 does still give you that f1 shift feel with controlled loud upshifts and downshifts and is very quick/smooth in auto mode with the 8 speed zf transmission. I think with mc stradale ferrari 599 transmission and the DS and MC shift transmissions there is a more raw shift feeling as you say. Also the sport/comfort suspension dampening in the QP6 make a big difference when driving spiritedly so car does still feels like a thoroughbred when your on it and not some boat.

I might take a hike up the Belfast to Charles Hurst and try one, out of the two the QP6 looks better, but to be honest the Revenue in the Republic kill any idea of owning a bit of exotica unless you are super-rich and even if I was super-rich, and I do ok, I still won't chuck money on no benefit. I refuse to pay 72c for a plastic bag here in Dublin, I have a boot full of Sainsburys 10p ones!

Jesus I am my dad!!

Had quick look online Charles Hurst they have a 2018 v6 QP6 diesel one, probably not the best engine only 275hp. But you can get a feel for the ZF transmission and sport dampening. I am assuming those features are still the same as the GTS version. Enjoy a tyre kicking test drive.

It would be interesting to hear your views on the whole point the video is making, it is a 14 minute video.
Watched it all last night (and his QP5 'review' too) and it's quite clear he just doesn't 'get' (or like) Maseratis.... My above point re Heart Vs Head purchase stands. It's easy to pick logical holes in a Maser!

I also watched him do a 'review' of a Bentley Continental, which he loved, mainly because the main infotainment button stopped in correlation to the info on the screen but mentioned little else of value (and forgave it the most hideous all blue interior I've ever seen!).

Also, I do find the bloke really annoying.

Hello.

Reading this thread with interest. I’m currently driving a Giulia Veloce which is great fun to drive. I’m considering a Ghibli S next having driven a standard Ghibli recently I really loved it. The interior etc is just ace and although a much heavier car than the Giulia I don fancy the Maser twin turbo V6 over the Quadrifoglio- 2 totally different beasts I think, because I’m not feeling the need for the car to be ‘on’ all the time if you get what I mean. Question, should I go for a 3/4 year old standard Ghibli petrol 350hp and map it to 400 or go for an S?i would want the S alloys. Cheers!

I went standard Ghibli petrol then a remap to bring to S spec. Added 21 " alloys and couldn't be happier

I saw a QP GTS for sale at £29,995. Now that’s a bargain. Over 500bhp. For 5k more than a petrol Ghibli, I’d be seriously tempted.
Yeah saw that one too looks a real bargain lacking some nice options though. Remember this is a car that’s faster than a mc stradale. There is a clean 2015 one for 48k gbp, I paid similar to that in Switzerland for my LHD one a few months ago with slightly less miles on mine.

Here it is. Assuming you can get it for 29k, that’s a bucket of stealth rocket ship for the money. Much cooler than an S class amg or similar German fast limo. That engine should have been out into the mild facelift Granturismo. More power, lighter etc. Would have seen them rejuvenate sales while they bugger around making new models etc. There is nobody at Maserati or FCA with a marketing degree, they should hire someone!

I’ll throw some stats. I am glad the LHD market is different to uk or I’d be ****** but I did not buy Maserati for residuals.
1900kg kerb weight 100kgs less than qp5
530hp /710nm torque
193 mph top speed
Faster than a Mc Stradale

It's turbo's tho, for me, I've no real truck against them, they certainly boost power and I've had a BiTurbo and an Audi 200 Quattro Turbo, never driven an newer one but I'd expect the same, the power only comes on at top revs.

Doesn’t sound like a Stradale though however I get the GTS. I’d happily daily drive one. Like all big engined saloon, it’s loosing value faster that Boris Johnson which makes it a bargain. I also believe the chassis and ride is better than the Ghibli. Looks great in the flesh, very imposing.

The F3.8V8 is worth £29k on its own so look at it as a free Maserati.

Faster than a Stradale? I don’t think so. Put them on a track and the Strad will waste it.

How about one as daily then a project engine swap? I wonder how fast you can make a Stradale!!

If only my wife would drive a QP, I’d probably buy one.

Straightline QP6 GTS Wins
On the only track both cars have been around was marginal. I think it would depend on the track and how many straights corners etc.

The Stradale is fast enough thank you and it’s USP...the sound would be lost.

I do like them, I will say that.

****'s teeth, that's a lot of car for the money. I've no doubt that a Strad would waste it on the twisty bits, but where will you find a Strad for £30k?

Looks a rough example though. 60,000 miles rear tinted lights, no titanos. Rough interior. If your in the uk 33 to 35k pounds gets you a nicer example with lower miles and the titanos. 48k gets you a 2015 low miles. The cheapest one in Switzerland I could find online was 56k Swiss Franc60033
