GHIBLI II FRONT SPEAKERS

Hi Guys, trying to fit new speakers to the front of my ghibli gt, ive seen a few people change locations around, i dont want to fit them in the kick panels, the holes were all repaired and closed up, has anyone come up with a better solution to this problem, ive seen them fit into the door before just curious what the best workarounds have been
 
Thought id share some current progress on this for others in the same situation. Decided to get a little creative and make some places to fit em as below. Quite pleased with the outcome and it does look rather factory

Oh intersting im also looking into putting a stereo in my ghibli as it was removed at some point. I guess the speakers in your door compartments are not stock right? Nice work both those and the mirror looks proper. Mine only have 80mm cutouts in the kick panels. No rear speakers at all.. Was hoping i could fit something large enough in there and just have a small sub under the passenger seat. Not looking for something extreme at all but would be nice to have some tunes while riding (hopefully the sound will be good enough for this rather loud cabin but i have no idea if it will be ha). Esp these days when my dog is always with me so not much revving going on lately .)

I find it quite strange there was never anything more than 2 x 3.5" (which i think is the largest those 80mm will fit) speakers in my ghibli 1st edition. Does not seem enough for a luxury car but then again i know nothing of audio in general and esp on 30year old cars.
 
Today i was gonna check out the car for a diy installation with some small speakers and a sub.

Glad i looked again in those kick panel cutouts. Theres a metal support going diagnoally across most of the hole that i did not see the first time aorund looking into this. It severely limits the mounting space in an allrdy small hole (82mm diamter)
What kind of set up did these first gen ghiblis have for sound system? I dont even know if theres any coaxial speakers that would fit in that hole for sale even.

Is this something you all knew about allrdy and that why the door rebuilds are beeing done, is it this limited on all ghiblis?

Mine has cutouta in the rear aswell. Always thought they were factory. Heaps of space behind the side panels for 5.25 speakers. Mine are 4 imch componenta in the front. And 5.25 for the rear. Shouod be heaps

Yes but yours is a later model or first edition? Ai tells me some where sold with no stereo because custom stereo installation was so common anyways ni this age. but then again ai tells me lot of bs so i dont know :) I do however know mine dont have cutouts in the back but maybe thats not a bad place to c if i can make something custom. Alltho i dont like to cut into that lovely interior. Do you happen to have a good pic of your rear speaker cutouts and grilles? I would assume my car has the same space behind the panels and is just missing the cutouts themselves but considering how much stuff differs on these cars you never know.

Are u running 2 large speakers in the rear together with your doors + tweeters in the mirrors?
 
7044.jpgbought new speakers to fit. Havent finished yet but these cutouts were always in this car simce i bought it. Its a non abs ghibli
 
Fits a 5.25 inch speaker, once grills installed, looks factory. I never knew it wasnt untill i saw some.later cars with no holes there

Im not sure but ai told me they sold cars with no audio package at all since custom stereos were so common anyways and perhaps those cars dident have the grilles and cutouts.
