Hi Guys, tossing up replacing my intercoolers - 94 non abs ghibli 2.8. has anyone come across a off the shelf replacement with a decent size increase. also interested in a front mount setup but looking at the space it seems like it might be a bit tight to fit anything decent in there. i have seen a cup with a larger front mount installed however it has an open cup front bar on it which may allow more space.

QP IV intercoolers fit (of course small adjustments needed) their volume is 2 x the Ghibli IC volume.

I understand cooler air, but what benefit would we actually see from using larger intercoolers ?

The colder intake air reduces the chances of preignition allowing (depending on the engine management) more ignition advance and theoretically more power. If you drive like your hair is on fire, then worth it. If you just cruise, probably not.

You can easily find two long and tight I/Cs that you could mount ahead the water rad. There are also double I/Cs with 2 in/out on every side. But as you said the space is the problem.
But I'm not sure you'll improve the performance really. To me the main problem of the 24v engines, especially of the 2.8, is that valves are too small and intake ports are even small for the valve size. Also the TB is too small. I mean if the engine was not throttled by the listed above you would need less boost to inhale the same amount of air, so you would not need to improve I/Cs because less boost is less heat in the compressors.
