Love the colour. Not sure how accurate the engine stats are though.

Just my fav colour on a Cup...There was one local to me many years ago and it was just striking. Not many around and not many in that colour. Stunning. Didn't Harry from Evo have a 2.8 Cup before he bought the red later Cup.

The japanese ghibli cup were fitted with the 2800cc engine and the ecu was slightly tweaked.
27 units (confirmed by F Collina) have been sold.
Changes to normal, by increasing the boost pressure, demonstrate 305ps/6100rpm and 43.5mkg/3650rpm. The final gear ration is lowered about 6%. Undercarriage was lowered about 30mm is also encased damper spring also, but this also increases the negative camber of the front wheel toe-in, at the rear. It is also said that each Bush also has been solidified, but how is not clear. Tire size is one size larger F 215/45ZR17, and R 245/40ZR17, mounting aluminum wheels made by speedline. Brakes are also larger with Brembo calipers.

I have one of these 27, and I know another one in Germany.

I think there is a third one, somewhere in Sweden.

I had another ghibli, a GT 2.0, and there is a world of differences between the 2 cars. The torque of the 2.8 and the reduced final gear ratio transform completely this beast!
As far as I know, there is 3 ghibli cup 2.8 RHD, but without the tweaked ecu and with the standard gear ratio.

You’d have to check the chassis number with the factory to see if this really is a Cup. Aftermarket seats and the wrong exhaust are obvious changes. The date shown must be the registration date, as there were no Cups built in 1998. But even if it is a Cup, having a 2.8 engine version somewhat misses the point, as that engine is heavier, less powerful, and sits further forward, adversely effecting performance. A proper Cup has to have the 2.0 lt engine in my book. Nice colour though.

BTW, the LHD Cups had a numbered plaque inside, so why no mention or picture of that?

Apologies, got my wires crossed with the Primatist - I’ve been obsessing over those lately - I think there’s only one Primatist With a 2.8.

Anymore pics, it looks stunning already!

No numbered plaque for the japanese ghibli cup.
And you will be surprise to compare the 2.8 and 2.0 cup.
Below a comparaison of the power output of both cars, as you can see the 2.8 is better from 1000 to 6000 rpm (red dot fot the 2.0 cup, blue line for the 2.8 cup)

As for my ghibli cup, I don't want to hijack the thread, there are some pics in my presentation https://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/in...-its-probably-time-to-introduce-myself.20589/
By the way, I have a sweet spot for the japanese maserati, having also a imported a white assetto corsa from japan, number 13/30.

I've just noticed that the wing mirrors in your red Japanese Cup are also different from those on "normal" Cups.

Wing mirrors are different, indeed.

As well as the front headlights (same headlights than ferrari 348/355/F40)
You can even see the Cavallino (upper left)

The central console picture isn't clear but i guess there is a a button there to fold the mirrors in ?

Gemini.

With regard to lowered gear ratios i would assume this is done via the diff ?

I have a Cup that came with a 3.7 : 1 diff. I managed to find the diff from an Auto that was 3.9 : 1 which in theory gives better acceleration at the expense of top speed.

The mirrors are foldable but not electrically.
The lowered gear ratio is indeed via the diff, 3,7*1,06 = 3.9
The difference is very perceptible (I've compared to my other ghibli) and it's maybe not the best choice for frequent use on the highway, but with the torque of the 2800, it's a beast.
