Getting the 4.7 s to the same power and performance levels as an MC Stradale

MY2009-2011 GTS MC has 10PS less than two seater Stradale. MY2012 has the same. GT Sport and four seater Stradale have 10PS more than two seater Stradale. Nothing in it basically.

I would focus on the suspension and look at the MC handling kit as the Stradale's improved performance comes from better handling and lighter weight (-110kg).

I think some Dyno results would be interesting to see. I will look to getting mine done for a laugh.

I also feel that the power levels of the GT range was arranged in a meeting room with the Ferrari guys rather than tuned. The need for clear market segmentation for the two cars and brands probably defined final published HP levels rather than how much power they could ring from the engines.

EDIT: Rambling, sorry. What I was trying to say is that it does not really matter. 20 hp difference on a 450Hp car is hardly going to be something you can feel. I would look at the whole package for fun factor, rather than spending thousands for a few HP.

while there's probably a good bit of truth in they hypothesis, do remember these are very different engines.

yes, they are the same* block, but the crankshafts are very different leading to very different performance characteristics. the Ferrari variants are flat-plane cranks while the Maseratis use cross-plane ones. cross-plane, like nearly every other V8 car engine, are smoother, but all things equal, don't spin as fast. flat-plane cranks are easier to spin faster, but have paired firing intervals that are less smooth.

the power difference between the two vehicles is almost all due to higher redline that the flat plane allows.

*there's actually a gazillion versions of the F136 engine, but the statements stand across all of them.

Ferrari engines are stronger that's for sure. As said the GTS and Strad differences come from suspension setup, reduced weight and better braking. A poor driver in a Strad (outrun) would be whooped by a better driver in a GTS (Contigo)

I wonder if there is a specialist who can set suspension on the standard GT's to match the Strad or simply improve it? I don't want it slammed, lowered etc, just tunes.

Strad has bespoke springs and dampers although the MC Sportline suspension is very similar/the same*. Given 90% of GranTurismos' have skyhook you would need to junk that and start again.

*If someone knows which then please say.

was gonna link that too
click through to crossplane and flat-plane for way more details...

ps. I have a sportline convertible and it has both different spring and shock part numbers that the non-sport even though they're skyhook too. sport springs are red, non-sport are black. shocks *look* identical but there's difference between the like 4 skyhook types.

the stradales are single rate shocks – they come up cheap on eBay occasionally for the whole set of four full coilovers. you can tell because they don't have the wire out the top. IIRC, the strad is lower and has different sway bars too (though I think the other parts like control arms, etc are the same)

AaronE;527184 sport springs are red said:
springs on mine are red and made by Eibach (it says that on them, and some part number). Stradales are non-skyhook - didn't know that when I bought it, but happy - Although very "crashy" on our bad roads.
