Had my car in at shiltech yesterday had it booked in for an inspection before my 3 month warrenty ran out. A few minor things in addition to a wining gearbox. Hopefully it will not require a new gearbox as they retail at £4500 plus vat plus fitting.Start negotiations with dealer who sold me the car tomorrow. Should be fun!

Ah........... presumed you had and were dotting the i's. I would think something as major as a gearbox would be covered, your warranty hasn't actually ran out has it.

Andrew, I hope the dealer inspection backs up Geoffs (not good news I know but at least corroborated), but most importantly that it's covered by the warranty. When does the dealer make their inspection?

Spoke to the dealer today, car is going in for inspection in a couple if weeks, it is included in the warrenty and also they remember me mentioning it when I test drove the car and they did not have to tell me that so I think they will be okay to cure any issues that they find.

Next episode in a couple of weeks!

Their response seems encouraging and just what you'd want to hear. So they confirmed it IS covered under warranty? Good news.

mine "tranny whine" turned out to be a leaking exhaust collar. All sorted now but worth a look.
Carrs used a "chassis ear" to determint the fault.

Thats very interesting as two other itmes found on inspection were,

O/S centre section exhaust rubber split and both rear silencer clamps cracked. Not sure if that is related to an exhaust collar?

Any ideas anyone?

Hi Andrew,
I would have thought that a silencer clamp and exhaust collar are the same thing...
might be wrong, but sound the same to me,

Enzo.

maybe silencer clamp one end, exhaust collar at the other end of the center section

I had them take the gearbox apart and check for any issues, nothing found in the filter and correct oil put back all seems fine now. They also replaced brake lines with new copper ones and fixed a couple of minor items. All ready for MOT in February
