upgraded to system dynamics big brake kit on my GT 4.7S, had issues getting the system bled and got advice on my previous post and managed to get my system bled using the Sealy pressure unit (thanks to all for the advice and support), I thought all was well but now the brakes are staying on (binding), car does drive but brakes heat up due to binding so only driven short distance to nearest garage who also could not get the brakes to stop binding, they did check all individual components (calliper, horse etc) and found them all fine. thinking it may be ABS related? any advice in how to resolve as I can't drive car far and nearest dealer 180 miles away, tbanks

A lack of free play in the pedal will cause the brakes to bind. It will also make bleeding difficult. Don’t know the specs or setup on a GT so you might have to have a google.

If you think it’s something to do with the ABS get it a couple of yards down the road and try and get the wheels locked up so the abs kicks in.

If it’s all four wheels I’d look at the free play first, abs works independently on each wheel.

Presumably the garage checked pads etc for binding.

As above, check that the pads are properly seated and that they move freely. Check the pistons on the callipers slide back easily. Look at the surfaces inside the callipers to make sure there isn’t any corrosion creating high spots and stopping the pads moving. Is the disc running true through the centre of the caliper? Any runout at the hub will be exaggerated on a larger disc.

Does the problem occur on all 4 wheels or just one or two? Is the pedal as firm as it used to be, or could there still be trapped air? When the pads are refitted do the wheels turn freely until the brake pedal is pressed and released?

You don't need big brakes on a modern Porche, as you don't need to slow down:p oohps!

Too much fluid? It may sound obvious, but you will have needed to have removed at least 50% fluid from the reservoir if your old brakes were worn. I'm sure they bleed/overflow in these cases, but worth a look.

It all confuses me too.

GT
RS
GTS

Is it a Porsche or an Audi or a Maserati or a Ford

GTS is the worst; GranTurismo, Levante, QP, Boxster, Cayman, 911, Panamera, Cayenne, AMG, M4 and for those down under Holden.
