Funny Noise

Hi all, I've recently been getting a strange and quite loud "clicky" "clanky" metal on metal sound coming from underneath the car. It only happens at really slow speed when in 1st/2nd gear under slow acceleration and drive is not affected. I've had a good root around where I can underneath and nothing appears to be close to falling off. Anyone any ideas?
Thanks
Loz

Have you checked heat shield on front cats?
Hi Steve, I've checked everything but I will do a double check, it sounds like something is really really loose and rattling around, quite unnerving at times.

The heat shield round the steering rack? It can come loose and rattle, the air ducts for the brakes come loose too, the undertray? as has been said heatshields, cracked suspension arm moving around :) you need to get under there and have a look I suspect.

Hi guys , it's not a rattle as such, it's a really forcefull click/clank , car drives fine and only does it at slow speed mainly when taking up drive in 1st/2nd , not all the time though, I think it needs a trip to somewhere with a lift.

Can’t remember what car you’ve got, if it’s more of a clunk I’d suggest something in the drive train.

@Oneball it's a 3200 , it's a strange one , I can rule suspension out as it's quiet on the road even rough ones, I think you are correct in drivetrain.

Is it an auto? If so could be flex plate as well as driveshaft, diff or UJs, Have you tried rotating wheels or prop shaft?
