Fresh 2010 QP owner with 2 burning questions

Greetings from Finland

I've just taken the plunge and bought myself a 2010 QP S. Two things on my mind, I'll clear the quick one first and longer one second.

1. As a visual element I prefer the GTS style grille to the S one. Is it possible to fit a GTS grille on an S? Are the measurements the same? Not to give a false illusion to anyone but rather simply because it looks a lot better.

2. The infotainment. I'm very interested in upgrading the infotainment system and as far as I can tell the XCarLink one (https://www.xcarlink.co.uk/maserati...play-android-auto-retrofit-interface-kit.html) is pretty decent. I've seen some installations on various forums and it seems like it's a good system.

Obvioiusly it's quite pricey though and seeing as I'm very very new at this I wondered if people here would have long term usage experiences. The shop I contacted about installing the system told me to ask around if the system eg. has a tendency of triggering unrelated warning lights on the dash or other such things - as he said they've had experiences with aftermarket systems being installed that would cause unnecessary alarms and warning lights in some cases.

Are the instructions for install clear? Have people been satisfied long term with the system? Does it still hold up technically? I've seen that versions of this system have been around for quite a few years.

Thanks in advance for any help you could provide.

Welcome JJ081

Yes the grill will fit I believe.

As for infotainment - look at the SportsMaserati Car play - it is on this forum (someone will be along shortly with details) and has been fitted in 100's of Maserati's..

Get your subframes checked out and rust-proofed if not already done, look at the larger 380mm front disks (available on this forum when the time comes) and you should be good to go!

Finally - pictures - we love to see new owners cars!

As for the tip on the infotainment, I appreciate it but I don't live in Britain so SportsItalia isn't an option for me. I'd noticed mentions here and contacted them earlier to see if they could point me to where I could acquire the hardware and have it installed here in Finland but they said it's essentially their own product so I'd have to ship the car over there. A bit too expensive for me, but I do understand.

So have a look at Naviplus - based in Australia and have that kit fitted in Finland? I have had mine for 5 years - works flawlessly.

Details here

I am having my kit replaced with the newer version (wireless) so if you want a cheap used option DM me.

Thing I was wondering, the SportsItalia system - which I've seen on a youtube video or two as well - seems remarkably similar to the XCarlink one. But the guy at SportsItalia wouldn't confirm if that's the system they use. Does anyone know if that's it?

I can ship it in direct from Xcarlink to Finland, that's not the problem. It's just I don't know which system they use.

GT S grille will fit as I did it no problem. You will, need to buy the GT S parking sensor holders though as the S ones will be the wrong shape for it.

I have just had carplay installed and given the time and work involved in installing I think the price charged by SI is a great deal. It works great too.

I assume you do not have the Bose head unit? If you have, carplay is not an option without a full head unit change.

Thanks for the reply! The car is actually at a shop getting rust-proofed as we type.
Please read the details here thoroughly and ensure the shop does the areas that are almost impossible to see and reach. Once the corrosion has set in it seem only removal of the subframe will allow the access to do the job properly.
no disrespect to any professional workshop intended. Seems easy to miss the upper face of subframe, and inboard of upper wishbone mount.

Welcome JJ. Can't help you with any info and even worse, I don't know any jokes about Finns, Finland or anything Finnish :( However, we like you a lot, because you gave the Russians a thoroughly bad time in WW2.
Much like our friends the Ukrainians are doing right now.
And, you have a pretty hot Prime Minister, whom I've already written to, offering my shoulder to cry on, when she eventually divorces her husband. Oops. Did I say that last bit out loud?

Welcome JJ. You have found the right forum for authoritative advice on these cars. Thank you for taking the trouble to try us.
Always a delight to learn of an overseas Maserati fan. How did you come to choosing a Maserati over all the other (reasonably) fine marques out there?
Oh, and please don't keep us all in anguish. Post some pictures of the car soon......

Hi again guys and thanks for the messages!

I went ahead and bought the XCarLink unit but am up the river with it to be honest. I booked a mechanic to install it, but when he got to work he noticed, that one of the online instruction manuals linked to in the materials does not open!

In other words, I'm looking for anyone who could send me the booklets via email or such so I can forward them to my guy for the installation.

I've been in touch with XCarLink, but as usual, they have been utterly unhelpful. As with delivery issues I was having in May, they promised to help but never ever did. It has been a terrible experience for me so far.

So I am reaching out to the excellent Maserati community for some help. I know there are how-to guides with pictures on this forum, which is good. But the guy I'm having it do won't guanrantee his work of course if it's not done by the official book. Because if it breaks or causes problems and hasn't been done as the manufacturer says, he's in trouble if he would guarantee it.

There are two download links provided. One works (https://bit.ly/33YUwLy ) the other one (https://bit.ly/2Knrvl7) does not. If anyone knows any way to get the manuals, I'd be forever in your debt,

So any help on this?

I’m late to the party here but was going to post with a warning against X Car Link. I couldn’t even get through to them at all and ended up doing a chargeback through my bank.

I can’t see any comeback with the manufacturer and guarantee against work carried out by your fitter as I don’t honestly believe the company would engage enough to investigate any warranty claim.

Ah oui :) Le chargeback ploy. Unknown to many. Exceptionally useful if used in a timely, correct manner.
