French rise up against speed cameras

I was driving in France over New Year and noticed that many cameras had been spray-painted.

Also got a free ride at an autoroute peage thanks to some gilets jaunes who waved us through without having to pay.

I used to live near Billingshurst, in West Sussex. There was a camera just to the north of the village which was repeatedly destroyed. From memory, it was shot, cut down and eventually towed down by a tractor. It's final resting place was marked by a stump of metal. Not sure if it ever was replaced.

Its the scale of the things thats impressive here. Thats a lot of speed cameras to destroy / vandalise. People have had enough

Living here is Wonderful in my opinion and although the media have shown some horrendous stuff and sadly lives have been lost I have only seen the peaceful and friendly side of it.
Since it started I have been to Paris 3 times and avoided trouble.
Love the French way of life.
I couldn’t agree with you more. I’ve been going to my place just outside of Dieppe for the last 18 years and I love it. Such a lovely pace of life and way of life and yes they can be militant but you Gotta love them for it. I say this as someone who’s been with my Mrs French for that length of time. Even she says “God these Parisians think they’re the centre of the world!!” Best decision I ever made buying my place there and was grateful for the opportunity to be able to do it as a Brit. Never thought I’d get on the property ladder here so I bought over there first. I finally managed to buy here in 2009 but The French house is the keeper (like Masers, properties out there are more bang for your buck). The people are lovely, welcoming and very hospitable. If you’re ever in the area you’ed be most welcome....

We're in Laval 53000 and love it and can be in Paris on the train in an hour and 10.
People here love us I'm guessing they are interested that a French lady with an English guy is of interest especially as we came over from NZ.

Yep. Love France as well and rarely encountered the issues many English people have with the French.

I'm a Jock mind you...

Mate we are practically in the same boat. My Hamlet Beaumont (Beauval En Caux 76890) and My in-laws had never met a Brit, let alone a Brit with Arabic origins! I thought that it would be like a scene as that of Daffyd Thomas in the "Little Britain" sketch but about being the only Arab in the village. Within about five minutes I was considered like the son they never had...The village took me in as a native and took a genuine interest in me, now what more could I ask for. I leave the Maser there and miss it, miss my garage (man-cave) and the space. Mrs French et moi try to go there every couple of months. It was a labour of love when we bought it from her parents back in 2003, 15 years later we finally have it how we want. Let's see what the next couple of months bring with Brexit and see how we'll be affected, but the long term will be to buy another place in the South...(Sorry for the thread deviation).

Yep I couldn't I agree more, you can spend a lifetime discovering the country and never get bored or see the same thing twice. Beautiful landscape. The space and the vastness is impressive. Like any country it has some miserable bits, but on the whole it has some outstanding things and similarities to here. Like Masers, really lovely and just that little bit different.

I'm reasonably sure they most probably aren't all cheese eating surrender monkeys, but I am still to be fully convinced.

The RN should have sunk the whole bloody french fleet, better there than on the high seas with German crews. Stormin’ Norman eloquently summed them up by saying; Going to war without the french is like going duck hunting without an accordion. :D
