Posted some time back...the owner was happy with the payout and is now in a GT if I recall correctly.

The damage underneath is far worse than it looks and of course repairs with new parts is always going to be costly...and the donor parts will reap ES a fair return.

This. Funny as soon as someone posts a CAT car 'is this an easy repair' it's all 'It'll be stuffed'

This one is *known* to be stuffed, and yet.....

To my untrained eye, that seems repairable. The damage doesn't look that bad. Is it a CAT (write-off) because the repairs are in excess of the cars value or close to it? Presumably, once the insurer pays out to the owner, it becomes the property of the insurer who then sell it on as a scrap car to Eurospares?

It's Mark's Campagnolo's. Gallo priced it at about 17k in parts alone! (I believe).

The centre pillar, is knackered, as is underneath, as are both axles where the car was smashed into a curb.
And the underneath looks knackered from the fork lift!

So if the actual value (undamaged) could be say £23-25K and Giallo reckon repair parts at £17K then that leaves a residual hardware value of £6-8K - not worth repairing for insurance company but as spares it would certainly bring in more than £6K - I suppose if you had some spare space, a GS, and got it for £6K you would be quids in - and covered for any spares you would need for quite a while! I wonder how much ES want for the whole package? (including the fork lift arms) :)

Given the quote Maserati gave me for the replacement of all wishbones (8) of just under £12k you can see how £17 is quite easy to achieve.
