Unless we have a shock announcement at Goodwood, perhaps its time to change the description of this forum to something like 'Concept with unspecified production date'.

How about changing the description of Maserati to 'a fantastic marque run by absolute w4nkers'.

It's what happens when accountants build cars , fiat are only interested in cars that make a profit

Seems to me that all car companies should be interested in cars that make a profit. The companies wouldn't stay in business long otherwise ;)

I still think that FCA are trying to figure out where Maserati fits into their stable long term. With any look they'll look at the VW Audi group and position Maserati as their Porsche and get on with it. They do need to be a little more imaginative though.

The engine is the heart of any Italian sports car. Get this wrong and your brand will suffer. Alfa Romeo has finally worked this out and is doing well, Maserati has not and will continue to struggle.

The Maserati tagline is "Luxury, sports and style cast in exclusive cars" and the brand's mission statement is to "Build ultra-luxury performance automobiles with timeless Italian style, accommodating bespoke interiors, and effortless, signature sounding power".

The signature sounding power bit does not really apply to the current crop of V6 Petrol and Diesel motors I'm afraid.

Companies all over the world build and sell loss leaders to attract customers , I don't see car manufacturers as being any different , Ford must have sold 1000 1.6 Capri's for every 3.0s , same for the lotus carlton

Fiat is big enough to build a car for the enthusiast to attract the fleet buyers to the ghibli whether it makes money or not

But Fiat also have Ferrari as their 'Porsche' brand. Maserati is more of an Aston Martin. Luxury GT.

Sorry for the thread revival... I was just thinking if it time to rename this section yet?

Edit: MC20, GranTurismo MkII and Grecale

MC20, GranTurismo MkII and 2021 SUV(?)
The new SUV is called the Grecale i believe

MC20 should probably be its own section as I doubt it will have much in common with the others. I’m still interested to see what chassis the Mk2 GranTurismo will ride on, could it be an updated Ghibli chassis or a Giulia variant?

Yes... Grecale that's the one

I hope the new GT is not on the Giorgio platform (same as Guilia and Stelvio).

Someone told me a short while ago that we might see a car very similar to the Alfieri concept reworked to fit in with the MC20 design language. Interestingly the 2014 Alfieri concept car was carted around some car shows in the summer of 2020... Obviously for PR reasons, the easy conclusion is that the next GT might be the long awaited Alfieri but Maserati have decided not to give the new car a different name this time.

That new dumpy SUV looks like a Ford Puma in most of the renderings I have seen... hardly a compliment to Italian design flair.
