It is already a chat room for 40 or so mates. That's why I rarely post. Those 40 mates all appear to want to let me know they know more than me about Maserati, Porsche (on the rare posts where that brand crops up) and indeed they want me to know that they know more than me about absolutely anything.

I think we shouldn't lose sight that the forum is primarily a massive wealth of information regarding our beloved marque, if it happens to you rest assured it will probably have happened to someone else, so the information will be here, and probably many worthwhile tips and alternative parts etc. The rest is just padding which I can read or not depending if it interests me or not. Remember the other forum was lost, including masses of information which was a pity.

I think my time is done on here.
I have met many of you and been on some good events.
Shared my experiences of saving a Maserati and helped many people who have messaged me needing advice.
I'm certainly not a big headed no it all and have better things to do.
Phil.

Very sad news indeed Phil, you will certainly be thoroughly missed. What a great shame it has come to this.

Sad indeed. Although we did talk about this last time around.

The forum will never be all things to all people.

If you're upset about the recent ban, I guess the correct people to take it up with are the mods (which shouldn't be too hard)

If you're upset about some of the comments in this thread, see point 1.

There may be other reasons that people are getting upset. *Personally* I can't see them as yet.

@philw696 I hope you will not go. I really do.

Your knowledge is immensely valuable to the community but, much more importantly, you have always been very generous with it and always encouraged others to try things and people trying to innovate to solve problems. It’s that energy and human touch with all that experience and knowledge. I really appreciate it and hope to continue to.

Fouthereded. I've only been here about a year now, and certainly have never intended to offend. Please accept my apologies for any given.

I don't have FB or anything else, and only glance at Twitter (with one twit to my name since I first got on). Can't remember the last time I logged into LinkedIn.

I have appreciated the community here, and being allowed to be a part of it. I am pretty liberal, but don't think I beat anyone about the head and shoulders with my viewpoint...nor do I feel threatened personally by the views of others as posted here. Always free to skim, skip past, or ignore altogether. Unless it's a positive post about Pirellis. In which case...

Now, please forgive me for my earlier, erroneous statement about the spheroid nature of our lovely planet!

It would be a shame if that happened Phil, you have lots of knowledge to offer.

Mind I have just read the thread that got Wattie sacked and quite a few people said things on that thread which were just as divisive as he did. All I’m asking for is consistency in who gets a kicking and, preferably, more tolerance in the first place. Banning Wattie or putting him on the bench (no idea which it is but he is not around) was a mistake IMHO.

Fifthed. I've always liked your posts and contribution to the forum. It is one of the reasons I'm here.

You have always been very generous with your time and knowledge. It has always been much appreciated. Don't listen to others who clearly don't quite understand what they are saying often. I hear people often but listen to them less often.

You know the truth and the goodness in you even if others don't. You are an honest and decent man also someone I'd be honoured to call my friend.

The world and people also their minds have changed a great deal the last 3 years. Not in a good way often IMHO. Some people seem to have a voice and think they have great knowledge about so much. In reality they know very little about the things that truly truly matter.

I can understand this. Whenever I want or need advice on Maserati ownership, I have fantastic advice from Marios and his team at Autoshield Maserati. I also turn to Richard Grace. Both these sources give straight, honest advice. I do not go anywhere else. Just these two sources of advice. You won't find me asking here for a CEL cure or "is my battery or is my clutch on its way out on the Gransport" or "where can I get a used ABS sensor/wheel bearing".

I'm very grateful to the huge number of people on here who know more than me about Maserati (actually that's almost everyone on here, including @philw696 and @cheshiremaserati and @safrane ). And for the other knowledge and expertise that is shared, whether about car parks, WiFi or whatever. I really don't mind people bestowing useful knowledge on me, whatever the intent or tone.

And the jokes are often good.

A bit of moaning and ranting is OK too, IMHO. It can be nice to have a bit of a rant, and to see if it is shared. And I suppose people do want express opinions (sometimes claiming them to be FACT!). But when it gets too negative, mean-spirited or crazy, it can be damaging, and I can get sucked in to disputation. (I'm trying to do less of that.)

Bu$$er me,Phil, if you bu$$er off, I'll be the only aged Black Countryman on here. Them others am orl tooo pash ..... .

Myself, I don't join in the 'banter', merely observe if any, some make me smile, but like many aging Maseratists, remain here for the technical advice from which I've benefited hugely for hmmmm, 7 years? Is that how long I've had her?

She wouldn't be in the fine fettle that she is now if it wasn't for this group. She's certainly in far better condition now than when she originally arrived.

Just sent a NIT image/disk off to a fellow poor s0d, who is suffering the inevitable 'White Screen'. It'll happen to us all one day.

Remember, we're all here to support each other, and our precious works of art
