Begs the question how you even know not only what he's called but also what the rest of them are called too!

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but watching a few of the interview sessions for the F1 I have noticed that they all wear trousers apart from Billy who always seems to be in shorts as if a constant reminder that he lost his legs in a racing accident. If so, is it a decision made by Billy or others??!!

From a practical point of view it means you don’t have to take your trousers off to take your legs off and from what I gather they’re not all day comfortable.

I think that’s a bit of a crass message to be honest. I wear shorts most of the time and into winter and only when really cold do I wear jeans. My postie wears shorts all year round..

If he wants to wear shorts, that’s up to him. I am sure he was wearing shorts from the getgo since his accident based on all the documentaries I’ve seen on him.

Also maybe it’s more comfortable to be wearing shorts as long trousers/jeans may be snagging on his prosthetics.

Either way, I don’t think it’s for us to muse or opine on.

Just my twopenneth…

When I was delivering I always wore shorts. Just more comfortable when in and out of the van all day.
Lumsden Bumhat (Ted Kravitz) also wears shorts, also for comfort I imagine.
Good points! I never thought of it from that perspective. Having legs you tend not to know the barriers.
I have designed many Disabled adaptations before and the things you have to take into consideration can be quite difficult!

This. My father is a bi-lateral, trans femoral amputee. I don't think he even owns any trousers any more, even though he has no artificial legs.

Also, it’s not like he needs trousers to keep the bottom of his legs warm..

Moving back to this weekend, the second sprint (not a race) qualifying. Can’t help but think that Monza was the worst place to do this. From a race weekend perspective, Monza qualifying favours cars that are quick in a straight line, and the race is no different. It’s hard to pass and having an extra set of racing laps surely isn’t going to do anything other than mean the Merc’s get to pull away 2 days running…

Still not convinced about the sprint race format, not sure what it actual brings other than a mother day to get more fans to come and watch. The harden fans would always go to practise but more will be pulled into the Friday with a quality session.

The pit lane antics were shocking, these are the best teams in the world and letting cars out like they some teams did should lead to a severe reprimand, the Aston pit member was lucky not to get injured in the madness.

Fridays were quite boring before, same with MotoGP Fridays, so much so the commentators talk about other stuff (silly season, driver spats in tweets etc,) rather than what is happening on the track. They only get remotely excited in the last 5 minutes in each session when drivers/riders put in a time attack.

The down side is there's less chance of Test Drivers getting a go in FP1.

Alpine were fined by the FIA for the members of the pit crew that was waving Ocon out being in a dangerous position. You couldn’t write it..

The test drivers don’t get much seat time nowadays anyway, with the lack of actual car test compared to years back, it’s all sim work. The up and coming drivers will still get seat time in FP1 as they need the points for their super licenses to get into F1

The sprint race seems to be a failure, although it's an interesting idea. You had Bottas with nothing to lose as he's at the back tomorrow - looks like Merc picked the wrong track to change engine, Max, he knows he's got pole so there's no point risking his 2 points and messing up the race, Danny Ric, he's happy with a point and a front row start and his car isn't quick enough to challenge anyway. Lewis knew he shouldn't risk overtaking Lando and making his race start position worse and he wasn't close enough to Bottas for team orders. Only Alonso fancied a few overtakes as he doesn't give a s&&t and enjoys the game.

So it was a tactical procession with no point in taking risks for almost everyone on the grid.

I hope the race itself is better. Looks like the Merc engine is the one, even with max at the front, so tyres and tactics may reign supreme.

An interesting point raised during an interview with Toto Wolf, the thrid car for young drivers. Good idea or potential crash fest if you get more pay drivers in (think 10x Mazepin!)
