For Sale
2001 Alfa Romeo Spyder 3.0 24V
For sale, our lovely Spyder. We were not planning to sell but now we have a 6 month old we won’t be able to use the car!
The car drives brilliantly and has a number of sympathetic upgrades:
• Wizzard Exhaust (sound fantastic when you are on it but does not drone)
• Koni Orange Shocks fitted 2019
• Polybushes in the suspension
• Aluminum Strut brace to increase chassis rigidity without adding much weight
• New Clutch with GTA Style Single Mass Flywheel (which makes the engine more responsive)
• Braided Hel Front Brake Lines With recent new Discs and PFC uprated pads
• New Alfa Romeo GTV/166 Gearkob
• Re-Trimmed Steering Wheel
• Sony Bluetooth Stereo and Uprated Door Speakers and Between Seat Speaker
• 2014 Re-Spray
• 2017 New Mass Air Flow Sensor
• 2014 New Oil Cooler
• Servicing done using the correct Selenia 10W60 Oil
• Tyres with approx 5mm of tread
• MOT expires 17/10/2025 (1 advisory for a very small chip in the screen – could be repaired)
Electric Folding Roof all working and sealing.
Notable recent invoices:
08/04/19 Auto Alfa £1397 131,769 miles (New Clutch, Single Mass Flywheel upgrade, fit new discs and pads, new front brake pipes)
23/07/2020 £1035 Auto Alfa (New Timing Belt, Tensioner and Bearings, Water Pump, fit supplied new Koni Shock Absorbers & bump stops) plus £394 for 4 New Koni Orange Shocks Absorbers
The car is relatively high mileage but has good service history and the general condition and recent work done mean that it belies the mileage. The first owner used the car to commute to work so racked up a lot of motorway miles in the early years of the cars life, followed buy more gradual mileage lately.

I have listed the car for £6950 on Autotrader but I do want to move this on so I'm all ears to offers.

Anyone interested?

I have advertised on Facebook Alfa Groups and Autotrader so far, thought about EBay too but not sure if that will just be a nuisance.

Maybe car and Classic too?

I’ve reduced the advertised price to £5950 but still open to offers - everyone wants a convertible for winter don’t they!?

Only selling it to give garage space to this project! Going to put a manual gearbox in and an aftermarket ECU, maybe ITB’s too. The 6.0 V12 has already been rebuilt.

That's a good price. I've owned two 3.0 Spiders in the past. Good luck with the sale.
I think it was you who gave me the idea :)

I had t even realised they made this spider with a Busso engine, I only knew about the twin sparks.

As I’m sure everyone knows, it really is a great engine regardless of what else you have owned. So flexible, Pulls form 1200 rpm in top and zings to a 7000rpm redline sounding great all the way!

It turns heads and is good fun to drive. My wife has particularly loved it too.

Looks good value even with the mileage, what's the paintwork like? any signs of lacquer peel?

As above the import duty, VAT, VRT & Nox kill the import possibilities of anything under 30 years old unless it's silly cheap. Recently looked at a 159 Ti 2.4JTD Q4 which I could pick up fro £500, VRT was €800, VAT was €130 and Nox was a whopping €3280

The paint is good as it had a re-spray, there is one minor bubble on where the side skirt meets the rear wheel arch lip, I think the paint has reacted a little. No laquer peel, a couple of small stone chips on the bonnet.

Still for sale, hoping I'm going to have more luck come spring time.

I actually technically sold it once with a father and son signing a receipt and me filling in the V5 but they could not get their internet banking to work and then the son got spooked saying it was an omen and he was now scared of buying the car!

Pretty cross at the time as had wasted a couple of hours on test drive, filling the car with fuel and offering a sensible price.

A lesson to me to get the money before filling in the V5, never had that before in many years.

Jag project is still trucking on :)

Still for sale and open to offers.

Advertised for £5750 Now

Had a couple of calls inc one who was going to come and see it but never showed, and another who I nearly gave a viewing time to but decided against it and to not stop me from enjoying a chilled BH weekend, did offer two days during the week by text.

The second one had rang on the bank holiday Saturday and asked if he could come the next day. Usually try to accommodate but I said I'd check with my wife and get back to him. Said no but could do during the week.

The conversation went something like this: "I'm calling about the car, yes, what would you like to know, silence, "I'm looking for a summer car" and that's all the bloke had to say and that he's made a few calls on diffent cars today.

Probably dodged a bullet there cue another person asking if a 23 year old Alfa would be 100% reliable or whether I'd take £2K

Selling nice cars privately has become sooo much harder. Looks lovely and hope you have better luck.

You could try Car & Classic, which is free to advertise indefinitely. Sold my own GTV V6 there 7 scary years ago now. Was for sale forever with a few idiots offering 3 grand (advertised for 10 grand!) By email. But then a guy flew in from Ireland to view, first to view and paid asking price....
