Ownership of a decidedly dodgy Qp started on the way home, have been booked for speeding whilst it was still on the trailer - a first? Can anyone recommend a company with an OBD reader? This thing has messages flashing like blackpool illuminations, before I spend anything I need a diagnosis. I'm in West Yorkshire.

There’s a place called Supercars in Yorkshire but not sure where abouts but I know they did work on my car previously

I'm in West Yorkshire (QP as well) didn't think any local indy has the SD3 reader you need to get the Maserati-specific info. Nearest is Autoshield in Manchester. Standard OBD reader won't tell you much, but the Foxwell NT520 and Autel Maxsys 906 etc jobbies do a bit more.

I've got the Foxwell if you want to try it. I'm in Wakefield area.

Clutch and suspension/ABS are the expensive issues but only the SD3 can really diagnose those.

You'll need more than an ODB reader. But let's start at the beginning: What lights? If it's loads try a new battery first :)

Hi guys
Apologies for late reply, I haven't been around. I bought what was probably the cheapest QP from Cornwall, It's been neglected I think but it runs, the interior is very good, the rear suspension cradle was rotten and the duoselect lever was broken but working after a fashion. The ABS light was on too. The previous owner - a nice guy - recommended disconnecting the battery and leaving it a few minutes before reconnecting but that hasn't cured anything. I'm not naive, I know I've taken a risk but at the price paid I don't think I can lose out but I think at this stage I would prefer to buy a reliable OBD reader than go to a Maserati "specialist" I have a deep concern about giving one a free rein to spend my money, I am from Yorkshire after all! I've briefly looked at machines but haven't come to any conclusion, any proposals?

Cradle is going to cost. Lever should be cheap ish. ABS sensor might be just that. It's built into the hub so quite spendy, but rather less than the subframe is going to be

Might be worth getting an independent inspection to give a list of what's wrong and then you can look at what you want to do.

I bought a cradle/subframe for 180 in Blackpool but it doesn't have the worst bit - the crossmember which supports the gearbox, that's crust. I see there is project 3 in manchester, does anyone have experience? BTW the previous owner is offering me two new ABS sensors for 600, is that reasonable?

As Catman said, stick a new battery in it. Then you ought to find that most of the Blackpool Illuminations extinguish.
I had exactly the same experience when I bought my GT. Owner had let the battery lose charge and the first time
I turned the key, the binnacle lit up like a Christmas tree. The rest, I don't know about, but there'll be someone along
shortly who does. Best of luck. You obviously like to live dangerously ;)

The ABS sensor is part of the hub, cannot be removed and replaced. Several here have tried.

OBD reader, even the most expensive and featured isn’t going to help much with these cars, you need an SD3 reader and they’re not cheap, looking at £15k if you can get one.

Does it drive? If the clutch has gone you can only set it up with the SD3, cost is £3-4k for clutch fitted and set up.

It drives ok I believe, it went on the trailer ok and drove onto the 4 post lift but now will not select a gear. It shows it's in drive when I turn the key, then once started shows neutral and will not respond to the microswitches on the lever but beeps. Maybe a trip to Trafford Park (project 3) is in the offing....

Doh!! The bonnet was on first catch. What a learning curve. Thanks for that, I'm a lot more sanguine now about spending some money on ABS etc. Will it need a reset when the new sensors are fitted?

I don't think so. I think a drive of some distance will make it reset,
