So, after some thinking and weighing up the various options I’ve decided to sell and flee.

Gets collected next week. Been a great 6yrs, but time to bailout on this particular one.

Hopefully a nice project for someone and not to be broken up.

I do hope not broken up,

They have suggested it will simply go through their auction house as is.

No idea who Matt is, so almost certainly a no on that one.

TBH I’m not entirely sure what will replace it, a A45, QPVI perhaps. No rush as we have another shopping daily, and I use a motorbike for work year round. But for sure, I’m going to hang around for a bit and see if he pops up on here with a new owner.

If anyone does come across W25 RAF for sale, drop me a line first and I’ll be more than happy to talk you through.

Nick

It’s been a couple of months since Raffles drove on to the flatbed and went off to auction. Have to say this was a quick and simple process, and got over twice what Eurospares had quoted.

Thought I’d check up again today, and he is back on the road. Though not sure for exactly how long.

In all of the subframe repair chat
" anyone can do it, just get it our, blasted and painted and pop it back on". - Agreed

Then re-attach your wishbones - UNLIKELY

( assumes bolts would undo ) more likely all new bolts after chopping them. would you fit <cheap> stainless hardware?

Will you re-fit the bushes? UNLIKELY
If the suspension hardware is all good enough to re-fit, why is your subframe rotted out?

The OP 2008 Sport GT might be a good donor for a rough car with good front subframe. AMHIK

The problem is funding a good used subframe to put back in the car.
The one I changed certainly wasn't repairable by any means.

Doesn't read well, sounds like the main problem is still waiting to bite someone. It is quite shocking that a number of cars of this age are suffering with such serious subframe issue after less than 20 years of age especially as at the time they were built the manufacturers knew all about rot and how to protect cars from it.
